Job summary

Cardinal Health is expanding its In Office Dispensing (IOD) team in Murrieta, CA. The role supports accurate prescription tracking, patient greeting, and coordination with insurers using Pioneer and Centricity systems. You will ensure compliant e-prescribing and assist in physician dispensing decisions.

Ideal candidates have Pharmacy Technician Certification, a high school diploma, and up to two years of related experience, with strong customer service and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Certification is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a two-year degree is preferred.
• 0–2 years related work experience or training preferred.
• Health care environment experience and strong customer service are preferred.
• Excellent verbal communication and basic office IT skills are preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and use standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately tracks prescriptions written by physicians and maintains a daily log.
• Supervises E-prescribing to ensure Medicare compliance.
• Welcome patients at the IOD window and explain dispensing options.
• Verify patient coverage and bill according to insurance.
• Input prescriptions using Pioneer software and ensure accurate claim submission.
• Obtain prior authorizations for rejected medication claims and follow up.

What IOD (In Office Dispensing) Contributes To Cardinal Health

Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.

IOD (In Office Dispensing) is responsible for preparing, packaging, and dispensing medications directly to patients within a clinical or office setting.

Schedule

8-hour shift, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities

• Accurately tracks all prescriptions that are written by physicians. Keeps an accurate daily log of all prescriptions dispensed in the CCA IOD and those electronically prescribed.


• Effectively supervises and monitors all prescriptions written in the facility, ensuring a qualified E-prescribing system has been adopted and every prescription is written in compliance with Medicare guidelines.


• Cheerfully greets patients at the IOD window and explains the CCA prescription system and confirms patient information on file. Provides patients with a choice of physician dispensing, when possible, or e-prescription to a pharmacy of their choice.


• Effectively uses Centricity and Pioneer to verify patient prescription coverage insurance to accurately bill according to coverage plan.


• Accurately inputs prescriptions for physician dispensing using Pioneer software. Ensures accurate patient information is submitted for claim and confirms proper claim has been captured.


• Effectively works with insurance companies, obtaining prior authorization for physician dispensing medication claims that are rejected. Follows up on submitted authorization requests as needed.


• Effectively completes other assignments as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; two-year degree preferred


• Pharmacy Technician Certification required.


• 0 - 2 years related work experience or training preferred


• Knowledge of computer/telephony support, preferably in a health care environment, preferred


• Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment, preferred


• Excellent verbal communication skills, preferred


• Competence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipment, preferred


• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, preferred
