About The Role

The Columbia Threadneedle Investments Internship program is designed to provide you with first-hand investment management experience. You will support portfolio management and investment research, contributing directly to the investment process. You will work with an experienced team of portfolio managers and/or analysts who will provide mentorship and opportunities for shadowing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain three-statement financial models and earnings forecasts for leveraged issuers.
  • Conduct fundamental credit analysis, including assessment of business risk, industry dynamics, financial performance, capital structure, and covenant protections.
  • Develop relative value frameworks to compare investment opportunities across issuers, industries, and capital structures.
  • Prepare credit recommendation memoranda incorporating financial, credit, and relative value analyses for use in evaluating primary and secondary loan market opportunities.
  • Support portfolio monitoring through earnings reviews, company updates, and ongoing credit surveillance.
  • Develop an understanding of the bank loan, CLO, and broader fixed income markets through market research, investment discussions, and interaction with portfolio managers and analysts.
Required Qualifications
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation date of December 2027 or May/June 2028.
  • Passionate about the investment management industry and contributing to a successful team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High degree of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multitask, solve problems independently, and think critically
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with financial statement analysis, accounting, valuation, or financial modelling through coursework, internships, or extracurricular activities.
  • Interest in leveraged finance, corporate credit, bank loans, high yield, or structured credit markets.
  • Strong interest in financial markets, investing, and credit analysis
  • Demonstrated analytical aptitude and attention to detail.

In-Office Collaboration

Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Base Pay Salary
  • The estimated hourly rate for this role is $32.75 per hour. We have a pay‑for‑performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location.
  • In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long‑term incentives depending on the role.
