Job summary

Novastone Capital Advisors (NCA) is seeking an Investment Team Senior Associate to join the North American team, responsible for deal evaluation and execution, and supporting SMEs seeking acquisition opportunities. The role involves modelling, due diligence oversight, and governance support for select portfolio companies.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in investment banking, M&A advisory, or investment funds, with a strong accounting/finance background and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of relevant work experience in investment banking, M&A advisory, or investment funds.
• Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record in a directly relevant field.
• Strong sense of personal responsibility and ability to own deals amidst ambiguity.
• Solid understanding of accounting, finance and M&A transactions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to engage with investors, searchers and sellers.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, structure, and execute M&A transactions with NCA searchers.
• Develop and own financial models for potential acquisitions.
• Communicate project progress and deadlines to senior team members.
• Review and develop legal documentation for potential deals with senior staff.
• Oversee deal memoranda and DD work streams; present analyses to investors.
• Help establish best practices for the Investments Team and searchers.
• Represent NCA to investors, sellers, and advisors throughout the deal process.
• Monitor reports for North American portfolio companies and support value creation.

Job Description:

We are looking for an Investment Team Senior Associate to join the North American team and be responsible for deal evaluation and execution, providing support to the individual searchers actively seeking SMEs to acquire, among other responsibilities. The Investment Team Senior Associate will bring value to the team by analyzing and assisting in the execution of SME acquisitions in North America.

Responsibilities:

• Work with and advise NCA searchers on evaluating, structuring, and executing M&A transactions.
• Development and ownership of financial models with respect to potential transactions.
• Effectively communicate with senior Investment Team members on project progress and upcoming deadlines and/or deliverables.
• Collaborate with senior Investment Team members in the review and development of legal documentation of potential transactions.
• Oversight and review of deal memoranda prepared by searcher prior to investor presentations.
• Oversight of searcher-led commercial due diligence and third-party due diligence work streams.
• Present analyses and studies internally and to investors in support of NCA searchers.
• Assist in the development of “best practices” for the NCA Investments Team and searchers.
• Represent NCA to investors, sellers, and advisors in the deal process.
• Monitor and maintain reports for North American portfolio companies.
• Support value-creation activities for North American portfolio companies.
• Sit on the board of select portfolio companies as an NCA representative, supporting governance and value-creation initiatives alongside Program Participants.

Must-have requirements

• 5-7 years of relevant work experience, ideally in investment banking, Big 4 M&A advisory, or directly in an investment fund.
• Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record in a directly relevant field.
• Strong sense of personal responsibility, ability to take ownership and deal with ambiguity.
• Well-developed understanding of accounting, finance, and M&A transactions.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills and appropriate interpersonal skills to engage with investors, searchers, and potential sellers.
• Based in North America and comfortable working in a 100% remote and international environment.
