Job description

Investment Specialist – Hedge Fund Strategy & Technology

The Opportunity

A leading global investment management firm is seeking an Investment Specialist to join a team supporting a sophisticated hedge fund and alternative investment platform. The role sits at the intersection of investments, portfolio analytics, technology, product strategy, and investor relations, with exposure to global macro, credit long/short, multi-strategy, and other diversifying strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytically minded investment professional who is also highly comfortable with technology, data, and investment systems. The successful candidate will work with complex portfolio datasets, help improve how investment information is analyzed and communicated, and collaborate with portfolio management, risk, performance, trading, client, and technology-oriented teams.

What You’ll Do
  • Analyze portfolio positioning, exposures, performance attribution, risk, market trends, competitive positioning, and pricing.
  • Work extensively with investment and portfolio data, identifying trends and translating large datasets into actionable insights.
  • Support hedge fund strategies spanning global macro, credit long/short, multi-strategy, and other alternative investments.
  • Assist with product risk and performance reviews and analyze portfolio activity relative to investment objectives and client parameters.
  • Leverage Excel, investment systems, analytical tools, and data-driven processes to improve the efficiency and accuracy of portfolio analysis and reporting.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve and automate investment analytics, reporting, data management, and recurring workflows.
  • Track portfolio allocations, exposures, investment flows, performance, and other product-level data.
  • Prepare investment presentations, performance commentary, portfolio updates, and client-facing materials.
  • Partner with portfolio managers and investment professionals on product and portfolio analysis.
  • Support RFPs and responses to client, consultant, and prospective investor inquiries.
  • Work across investment, risk, performance, compliance, fund services, marketing, trading, and client-facing teams on concurrent initiatives.
  • Help maintain the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of investment data and analytics used throughout the organization.
What We’re Looking For
  • 1–2+ years of experience in investment management, investment analysis, alternatives, portfolio analytics, or a related financial services environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials; finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Strong interest in hedge funds, alternative investments, financial markets, and investment technology.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience working with investment and portfolio data.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort organizing, manipulating, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Strong technology aptitude and an interest in using data, systems, and automation to improve investment processes.
  • Understanding of portfolio risk, performance, exposures, and attribution concepts.
  • Knowledge of equity and fixed-income markets; alternatives experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to translate complex investment information and data into clear, concise materials.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced investment environment.
  • CFA designation or progress toward the CFA is preferred but not required.
Why This Opportunity

This role offers broader exposure than a traditional investment analyst position. You’ll work across investments, analytics, technology, product strategy, and investor relations, gaining visibility into both how sophisticated hedge fund portfolios are managed and how investment data supports clients and business decisions. For someone who enjoys investments but is equally interested in technology, data, systems, and process improvement, this is an opportunity to build a differentiated skill set while gaining exposure to multiple hedge fund strategies and experienced investment professionals.
