Job summary

Coolabah Capital Investments in Miami seeks a buy-side credit research analyst to contribute to in-depth financial analysis, industry reviews and investment recommendations. The role is permanent, full-time, in-office five days a week and reports to the Head of Credit Research in Melbourne.

You will produce written research, model credit risk, interact with management teams, and monitor ESG developments while collaborating with global teams.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ analyst experience within credit asset management, investment banking, management consulting, fund management, insurance asset management or family office investment management.
• Advanced financial modelling skills.
• Solid financial analysis skills and understanding of accounting principles.
• High attention to detail and ability to work autonomously or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct deep dive financial analysis and reviews of industry dynamics and disclosures.
• Provide independent views on creditworthiness of issuers and instruments to portfolio managers.

The Firm focuses on generating alpha from security-specific positions through highly quantitative proprietary models combined with comprehensive credit research. The team includes total of 61 employees located in London, Miami, Nassau, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland with 14-person portfolio management team and 22 investment analysts.

About the role

The role is a buy-side credit research investment analyst position in Miami (in-person) reporting to the Head of Credit Research in Melbourne, Australia and working with investment professionals in Miami, London, Nassau, and Sydney. The role is a permanent, full-time position, and the successful candidate will be expected to be in the office 5 days a week. No recruiters, part-time, or contract hires.

Key responsibilities

• Participation in the investment process including conducting deep dive financial analysis, detailed reviews of industry dynamics, financial statements and other listed company disclosures;
• Providing independent views on the fundamental creditworthiness of issuers (corporates and government entities) and instruments to portfolio managers;
• Production of thorough written research reports and detailed financial models concluding with investment recommendations on new and existing investments;
• Direct involvement in meetings and conference calls with the management of listed and unlisted companies;
• Monitoring ESG developments – identifying portfolio risks and opportunities. Provide support to the wider firm regarding ESG related processes and policy changes to develop, implement and continually monitor appropriate corporate governance standards; and
• Other responsibilities to further the growth of the company and brand.

Skills and experience

We are considering highly motivated candidates with approximately 3-5 years’ analyst experience within credit asset management, investment banking, management consulting, fund management, insurance asset management, and/or family office investment management.
