Job Summary

Join the Office of Investment Management (OIM) of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) and contribute to managing a globally diversified, multi-asset investment portfolio exceeding $100 billion. OIM actively manages approximately 85% of the Fund’s assets in-house across global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber, commodities, and other alternative investments.

This position is located in the Private Markets, Private Equity Team, which includes Private Equity and Private Credit. The incumbent reports directly to the Senior Investment Officer of the Private Equity Team and contributes to the management, analysis, and oversight of the Fund’s private markets investments.

The incumbent supports investment research, portfolio monitoring, financial analysis, and the development of investment recommendations across private equity and real assets. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to a global private markets portfolio comprising more than 200 investments in open-ended and closed-ended funds, while supporting OIM’s long-term investment objectives and fiduciary responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the management and investment of the Fund’s assets across private equity and real assets markets.
  • Conduct fundamental, quantitative, and qualitative investment analysis, including financial statement analysis, valuation analysis, financial modeling, and market research.
  • Monitor portfolio holdings and conduct investment and security analysis at the direction of the Senior Investment Officer.
  • Conduct portfolio and risk analysis using financial, analytical, and market intelligence tools.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and contribute to recommendations consistent with the Fund’s investment criteria of safety, profitability, liquidity, and convertibility.
  • Balance long-term strategic investment objectives with short-term performance considerations to support performance against established benchmarks.
  • Monitor portfolio exposures and ensure compliance with applicable investment policies, procedures, and risk parameters.
  • Integrate Principles of Responsible Investment into investment analysis and ongoing portfolio monitoring in accordance with OIM’s fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and present investment analysis and findings at Portfolio Review Meetings.
  • Review financial statements, market developments, investment research, and other available information to support investment analysis and decision-making.
  • Engage with external managers, research providers, strategists, economists, security analysts, and other market participants to support investment research and analysis.
  • Participate in investment conferences and seminars to maintain knowledge of private markets trends and engage with academic and industry experts.
  • Evaluate external manager performance and assess investment research and recommendations provided by external advisers and research providers.
  • Develop and present investment recommendations to the Senior Investment Officer and contribute to discussions on portfolio construction and asset allocation.
  • Prepare investment reports, portfolio analysis, presentations, and other materials for OIM senior management and relevant governing bodies.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in quantitative investment analysis, qualitative investment analysis, portfolio management, portfolio analytics, and legal negotiations is required.
  • Investment experience working at a private equity or private credit investment firm is desirable.
  • Investment experience working at an institutional investor organization, such as a pension fund, endowment, or foundation, is desirable.
  • Investment experience working at an investment banking or consulting firm is desirable.
