Job summary

Morningstar, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Data Research Analyst to join the MID North America regional team. The role focuses on data collection and database quality improvement, working with colleagues across teams and locations and reporting to the North America Regional Operations Manager.

The position requires four days in-office per week. You will perform fund data acquisition and data audits, collaborate with data providers, analyze data opportunities, and help build tools to streamline

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL.

Job description

The Role:

Morningstar Managed Investment Data is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our MID North America regional team as a Data Research Analyst to focus on data collection, and database quality improvement. This analyst will collaborate closely with colleagues from different teams and locations while participating projects to strengthen our database quality from market and investment angles. This position will report to the manager of North America Regional Operations Team and will be required to be in office four days a week.

The Responsibilities:
  • Perform fund data acquisition, data collection, data audit to ensure data and methodologies are in place to meet product requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues and external contacts to correct and resolve data issues effectively.
  • Communicate data requests to data providers, including all necessary data templates and submission instructions and answering any questions.
  • Analyze and identify data opportunities through issues and queries.
  • Review procedures and work with development team to create analytical tools to streamline the data collection and quality assurance processes.
  • Execute project actions to improve work efficiency, data quality and client experience.
Requirements:
  • Passion for investing and investment data
  • Minimum two years of work experience (full time or internship) in the financial service industry
  • Quick learner and flexible to adapt new things and work with multiple tasks.
  • Strong willingness and ability to collaborate with global teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and excellent executive ability.
  • Good client-centric mindset, self-learning ability, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to fluently write to and speak with clients in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL
  • A bachelor's degree

$59,900.00-87,850.00
