Job summary

Marathon Capital is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Associate to support energy investment banking and financial advisory efforts. You will lead junior banker workstreams and collaborate with senior bankers on deal origination, execution, and closing.

The position emphasizes building financial models, conducting industry research, and creating marketing materials in a leading energy investment bank with offices across major U.S. cities. On-site work is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, sustainable energy, or related field.
• MBA with 1+ year in investment banking.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct financial analysis and create detailed financial models in support of valuation and pro forma analysis of clients’ businesses, projects, and acquisition targets


• Lead and manage junior banker workstreams in support of firm mandates


• Develop sector expertise in renewable and conventional power generation, power and utilities, energy technology, and infrastructure


• Assess strengths and risks of client positioning as well as perform due diligence on clients and acquisition candidates


• Support capital raise and M&A processes by preparing offering materials and distribution lists


• Pursue business development initiatives to further enhance the firm’s competitive position


• Work directly with senior-level bankers in a leading energy investment banking firm

Qualifications

• Possess a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, sustainable energy, or a closely related field with 4+ years of experience, and/or graduated from a MBA program with 1+ years of experience in investment banking
