Job summary

Selby Jennings partners with a private credit and equity investment firm in Houston, offering a pre-MBA Associate role with high deal velocity across the investment lifecycle. You will join a tight-knit team working on 6–10 transactions per year and gain exposure to healthcare, software, industrials, and business services sectors.

You will finance and analyze deals, perform due diligence, assist in legal docs, and monitor portfolio performance while operating in a lean 3-person deal team.

Qualifications

• 1.5–3 years of investment banking or private credit direct lending experience.
• 3.5+ GPA from a top university.
• Strong modeling, writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work on 3–4 live deals at a time as part of a 3-person deal team.
• Lead financial modeling, credit analysis, and due diligence.
• Support deal structuring, credit memos, and investment committee presentations.
• Assist in legal documentation and transaction closing.
• Monitor portfolio companies and contribute to asset management.
• Gain exposure across a generalist platform (healthcare, software, industrials, business services, etc.)

Selby Jennings is partnering with a private credit and equity investment firm with over $3B in AUM and a track record of deploying over $9B+ across sponsor-backed transactions in the lower middle market (EBITDA $5M-$50M). This is a pre-MBA Associate opportunity to join a tight-knit investment team in Houston. The role offers high deal velocity (6-10 transactions/year) and exposure across the full investment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work on 3-4 live deals at a time as part of a 3-person deal team
• Lead financial modeling, credit analysis, and due diligence
• Support deal structuring, credit memos, and investment committee presentations
• Assist in legal documentation and transaction closing
• Monitor portfolio companies and contribute to asset management
