Battery Finance is building the leading specialty finance platform at the intersection of real assets and bitcoin. Battery pioneered the first-ever financing structure combining commercial real estate and bitcoin, and was named Most Innovative FinTech in North America by Global Finance (2025). Battery delivers Bitcoin-Enhanced Private Credit: disciplined, asset-backed lending secured by commercial real estate, with bitcoin's long-term appreciation potential used to strengthen credit quality through collateral innovation, not leverage. Battery's innovative strategy combines the stability and cash flow of income-producing real assets, principally commercial real estate, with Bitcoin's potential for long-term appreciation, enabling borrowers and lenders to tap into the long-term financing potential of Bitcoin while offering the lender enhanced downside protection and uncapped, asymmetric upside. Battery Finance is a majority-owned subsidiary of Newmarket Capital, an asset manager and registered investment adviser positioned at the nexus of structured solutions, impact, and innovation. Newmarket manages $2.9 billion+ for 45+ institutional investors globally and brings a $55 billion+ structured finance track record spanning five continents and a decade of award-winning, first-of-their-kind transactions. We are seeking an individual to join our growing Investment team at Battery Finance. The individual will be responsible for commercial real estate credit analysis and for structuring and underwriting financing solutions that integrate bitcoin as collateral. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional interested in Bitcoin and applying their energy to drive catalytic change. This role will have the opportunity to be heavily involved in the growth of the business and collaborate with the team as we look to achieve our long-term goals. The role sits within a small senior team and offers direct exposure to Battery's CEO, CIO and Managing Director, with the support of Newmarket's broader investment, legal, compliance, operations and technology teams. The following duties and responsibilities are generally representative of the type of work assigned and are not necessarily exhaustive.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of Battery’s strategy – bitcoin-enhanced private credit, i.e. income from senior real estate lending and optionality from bitcoin – and how it differs from traditional private credit, informed by a strong knowledge of the industry and direct competitors’ products and services
- Model and evaluate investment opportunities in bespoke transactions, primarily senior commercial real estate loans with bitcoin held as additional collateral, including cash-flow modelling, collateral and sponsor analysis, and bitcoin appreciation-sharing scenarios
- Lead underwriting and due diligence workstreams: review property-level financials, third-party reports, borrower/sponsor materials and loan documentation; draft credit memoranda for the investment committee, following Battery’s credit-first process (borrower and asset quality, cashflow sculpting with amortization aligned to the asset’s NOI, geographic and macro considerations, and sensitivity analysis including bitcoin stress scenarios down to zero)
- Maintain and enhance Battery’s proprietary models, using code and AI tools to automate and accelerate the work
- Support origination and pipeline management: screen inbound borrower opportunities across multifamily, office, industrial/logistics and mixed-use assets, prepare indicative terms, and coordinate with partners
- Support development of reporting and presentations, including drafting communication and preparing external materials such as investor presentations, loan case studies and periodic reporting for Battery’s institutional investors and financing partners
- Communicate investment findings and play an active role in the investment decision making process
- Monitor markets and portfolio investments, including loan covenant and DSCR compliance and the bitcoin collateral held in custody
- Participate in Battery investment committee meetings
- Continuously identify, evaluate, and implement new and emerging technologies, including AI tools, to enhance productivity and innovate on existing processes.
- Provide analytical support to investment, investor relations and marketing colleagues, including data and content for investor materials
- Support ad-hoc analyses and special projects as needed
What We Require
- High energy and a strong work ethic
- Self-starter with top-notch organizational skills
- Deep understanding of the Bitcoin network, including custody, on-chain settlement, and the bitcoin lending/collateral market
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, real estate, engineering or a related quantitative field
- 3-5 years of work experience with formal credit training in commercial real estate (e.g. at a bank, debt fund, or rating agency) and understanding of structured lending (e.g. Project Finance, Asset Finance, etc.); experience across multifamily, office, industrial/logistics and mixed-use assets is valued
- Excellent financial modeling skills (loan-level cash flow models, scenario and sensitivity analysis) with strong knowledge of coding (e.g. Python, VBA) and hands-on use of AI tools (e.g. LLM assistants and AI coding agents to build models, automate workflows and accelerate analysis), efficiency tools and structured finance systems (Intex, Kanerai, etc.)
- Demonstrated track record of adopting new technologies quickly, including integrating AI-powered software and platforms into day-to-day analytical work as the tools evolve
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under daily time constraints and in a fast-paced environment
- Expert knowledge of productivity, data and organizational software
- Must have an inquisitive, investigative mindset, and be willing and able to "dig deeper," rather than accept information at face value
- Must possess unquestioned personal integrity and reliability; keep commitments, admit mistakes, accept responsibility for all team output and results, and always act in the best interest of the organization
- Authorization to work in the United States and ability to work in person from the Philadelphia office
