Job summary

The Utah Department of Public Safety (POST) is seeking a POST Investigator to conduct officer misconduct investigations, applicant background checks, and basic training delivery in Utah.

This in-person, on-site role requires certified law enforcement experience, strong investigative skills, and proven ability to teach training content to varied audiences. The position also involves records and possible expert testimony in court.

Qualifications

• Must be LE-certified.
• 7+ years of law enforcement experience.
• 2+ years investigative experience.
• Extensive experience with teaching and training presentations.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws and agency rules.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into officer misconduct and inappropriate activities.
• Teach basic training courses including report writing, interview and interrogation.
• Review applications to determine entrance eligibility for police academy.
• Enforce laws, rules and regulations.
• Maintain detailed investigation records and prepare reports.
• Provide expert witness testimony when required.
• Give testimony and recommendations in court or hearings.
• Assist and train staff on the job.
