Job summary

The Delaware Office of the Inspector General seeks a lead investigator to conduct inquiries into fraud, waste, abuse of resources, mismanagement, and corruption affecting state government. You will collect evidence, interview witnesses, analyze information, and prepare investigative reports, working closely with OIG staff and law enforcement partners.

Responsibilities may include surveillance, undercover work, and testifying before boards or courts, with the possibility of arrests or search

Qualifications

• Experience planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing investigations.
• Experience conducting investigations including interviews, evidence gathering, and documenting findings.
• Experience collecting, evaluating and analyzing information for recommendations on alleged violations.
• Experience testifying before boards or managing cases in civil, criminal or administrative proceedings.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Job description

This position serves as a lead investigator within the Delaware Office of the Inspector General, conducting inquiries into fraud, waste, abuse of resources, mismanagement, and corruption affecting state government. The incumbent will collaborate with OIG staff, law enforcement agencies, and oversight partners to conduct thorough investigations, including collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, analyzing information, and preparing investigative reports. The role may involve surveillance, undercover work, testifying before boards and courts, and may require arrests or search warrants.

Key qualifications

• One year of experience in planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing investigations
• Two years' experience conducting investigations including interviews, evidence gathering, and documenting findings
• Two years' experience collecting, evaluating and analyzing information to make recommendations on alleged violations of state or federal laws
• One year of experience in civil, criminal or administrative proceedings such as testifying before boards or managing cases
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
