Job summary

The Bulwark in Washington, DC is seeking an Accountability Reporter to lead investigative coverage of corruption, oversight, and accountability in government. You will build sources, manage FOIA requests, and produce a weekly accountability newsletter with a clear, compelling voice.

You should be a fast, accurate reporter with strong sourcing skills, legal awareness, and comfort appearing on Bulwark programs. This full-time role is based in our DC office and requires in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of reporting experience, with investigative focus or similar beat.

Responsibilities

• Report on corruption, conflicts of interest, and misuse of public power across branches and agencies.
• Mine public records, FOIA requests, and financial disclosures to build sources.
• Write and helm an accountability newsletter published weekly or more often.
• Appear on Bulwark shows and collaborate with editors and producers on coverage plans.
