Job summary

State of Missouri's Division of Workers’ Compensation Fraud & Noncompliance Unit is seeking an Investigations Manager to oversee daily operations, conduct investigations, and guide staff. The role focuses on fraud detection, regulatory compliance, and improving processes within a fast-paced environment in Missouri.

The candidate will develop metrics, present findings, and collaborate with prosecutors and agencies.

Qualifications

  • 8 years of progressive experience conducting formal investigations, workers' compensation claims, or forensic financial auditing with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, plan, and analyze daily operations of the Fraud and Noncompliance Unit.
  • Conduct fraud and noncompliance investigations and guide other investigators.
  • Develop performance metrics and management plans; analyze data to identify improvements.
  • Participate in modernization discussions and champion modernization efforts.
  • Represent the Unit at governmental and civic events and provide educational presentations.
  • Review investigation reports for clarity and timeliness; ensure accuracy.
  • Recommend investigations for referral to the Attorney General for possible prosecution.

Annual Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000

What you will do:
  • Direct, plan, and analyze daily operations of the Fraud and Noncompliance Unit.
  • Conduct fraud and noncompliance investigations and provide guidance and assistance to other investigators preparing for and investigating allegations of fraud and noncompliance, under the Workers’ Compensation Law.
  • Develop impactful performance metrics and management plans, conduct performance evaluations and analyze data in order to proactively identify areas for improvement.
  • Actively participate in forward-thinking modernization discussions and champion modernization efforts within the Fraud and Noncompliance Unit and across the Division.
  • Represent the Fraud and Noncompliance Unit at various governmental, civic and labor functions and provide educational and informational presentations explaining statutory and regulatory requirements in regard to the Workers’ Compensation Law.
  • Review written investigation reports for clarity, accuracy, investigative sufficiency, and timeliness.
  • Recommend investigations for referral to the Office of the Attorney General for possible prosecution.
All you need for success:
Qualifications
  • 8 years of progressive experience conducting formal investigations, workers' compensation claims, or forensic financial auditing, with at least 2 years in a direct supervisory or managerial capacity OR a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of study such as Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Pre-law and 4 years of relevant experience

  • Relevant professional designation(s) such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Claims (AIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), etc.
  • Ability to utilize technology to facilitate process improvements and enhance efficiencies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the procedural requirements and differences of administrative, criminal, and civil cases
  • Comprehensive knowledge of investigative techniques and procedures to include interviewing, evidence collection and preservation, and documentation of case information
  • Ability to review and/or prepare and present investigation reports, expert testimony and evidence to prosecutors, administrative review boards, grand juries, and court officials
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current investigative issues and theories.
