Job description

The Inventory Supervisor Lead oversees the day-to-day operations of the dispensary with a primary focus on inventory management, compliance, and sales execution while supporting overall store leadership to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and achievement of financial goals.

Reporting to the General Manager, this position provides leadership and coaching across core departments including inventory, sales, patient services, and security. The role supports strategic execution related to facilities, accounting, inventory control, sales, marketing, and community engagement. Responsibilities include maintaining inventory integrity, supporting team development, ensuring compliance with all West Virginia medical cannabis regulations, and delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the General Manager in executing dispensary strategy, operational plans, and financial objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between Front-of-House and Back-of-House teams to ensure clear communication and effective execution.
  • Maintain overall dispensary readiness including cleanliness, organization, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a consistent leadership presence on the floor to coach, support, and guide teams.
  • Oversee all inventory operations ensuring full compliance with state regulations and company SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate records including delivery manifests, transfers, inventory counts, adjustments, destructions, and audit documentation.
  • Participate in and support monthly and end-of-month inventory counts.
  • Identify aging, slow-moving, or expiring inventory and develop mitigation strategies including promotions, credits, or transfers.
  • Ensure accuracy and maintenance of online menus, product descriptions, pricing, and promotional activations including backend systems.
  • Participate in state inspections and audits, providing required documentation and resolving inventory-related findings promptly.
  • Serve as a delegated point of contact with state and local regulatory representatives as needed.
  • Align inventory strategy with sales objectives, promotions, product launches, and community activations.
  • Analyze product and vendor performance data to support data-driven decision making.
  • Assist in establishing sales objectives through coordinated sales and inventory planning.
  • Support backend promotion creation and execution to drive revenue and customer engagement.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and development of associates with an emphasis on inventory and operations roles.
  • Oversee scheduling, performance management, and coaching of inventory team members.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and meetings to ensure clarity around priorities, promotions, and compliance requirements.
  • Support the identification and development of bench and future leaders through stretch assignments and mentorship.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and service-oriented team culture through consistent communication and leadership.
  • Support accuracy in invoice processing, non-cannabis inventory oversight, and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Partner with the General Manager on cash handling oversight in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensure required reports, audits, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on planning and executing community events, vendor pop-ups, and in-store activations.
  • Coordinate with vendor partners and regional leadership on training and promotional initiatives.
  • Serve as a professional brand representative within the community and at industry-related events when applicable.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Retail Leadership.
Relevant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Retail management experience in a regulated or compliance-driven environment
  • Experience with inventory management systems and backend retail platforms
  • Knowledge of medical cannabis regulations and dispensary operations preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams
  • Strong business acumen with experience analyzing KPIs and inventory metrics
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, with strong Excel skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and sense of urgency
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
  • Long periods of prolonged sitting and standing
  • Prolonged use of office equipment including computers and phones
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computer
  • May require lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally
