Inventory Coordinator Job Description

The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for executing, monitoring, and training on inventory best practices and SOPs across the store, including front end and pharmacy. They support pharmacy inventory activities such as receiving, counting, ordering, and returns. They champion On-Shelf Availability and ensure accuracy in planograms.

Responsibilities include reviewing reports and system applications affecting inventory accuracy, executing asset protection techniques, and managing store opening and closing procedures in the absence of management.

Customer Experience
  • Engage customers, assist with products and services, and resolve issues as the leader on duty to ensure a positive experience.
  • Model customer service best practices, including greeting, eye contact, courtesy, and proactive help.
Operations
  • Manage warehouse and vendor inventory processes, including order creation, receipt, and verification.
  • Handle deliveries, pharmacy shipments, and inventory activities under pharmacist supervision.
  • Complete on-shelf availability processes, disposals, vendor returns, and pharmacy inventory tasks.
  • Support pricing activities, inventory counts, and compliance with regulations.
  • Assist with physical inventory preparation and support store cleanliness and organization.
  • Ensure proper use of store systems and equipment, and coach team members on package delivery and inventory functions.
  • Serve as the point-of-sale system leader when on duty, managing sales records, returns, and cash handling.
  • Maintain respectful relationships, adhere to policies, and perform additional tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Participate in training sessions, complete e-learning modules, and maintain necessary licenses/certifications.
Communications
  • Act as a liaison between management and staff, coaching on inventory systems, and communicating tasks and issues effectively.
Qualifications
  • Six months of prior Walgreens experience or one year of retail experience.
  • Fluent in English; willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Good attention to detail, multitasking ability, and operational problem-solving skills.
  • Internal candidates should have achieved an "Achieving Expectations" rating and no recent disciplinary actions.
