Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily inventory operations for maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify shipments against POs and packing slips.
  • Organize inventory in a clean, safe, efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle counts.
  • Monitor levels and replenish stock before shortages.
  • Create POs and coordinate procurement of parts.
  • Follow up with vendors on quotes, orders, shipping, and backorders.
  • Coordinate emergency parts orders to minimize downtime.
  • Research and source replacement parts from suppliers.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and obtain competitive pricing.
  • Track open POs and ensure timely receipt of materials.
  • Report inventory status and metrics to management.
  • Work with technicians to identify upcoming parts requirements.
  • Maintain documentation in inventory systems.
  • Keep stockroom organized and compliant with safety standards.
  • Support continuous improvement in inventory accuracy and purchasing efficiency.

About Symbrant Aviation Services

Symbrant Aviation Services is a leading provider of airport maintenance, supporting critical airport infrastructure at Boston Logan International Airport. Our team is responsible for maintaining Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB), Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) units, Ground Power Units (GPU), and other essential airport equipment that keeps airline operations running safely and efficiently.

We are looking for an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to manage our parts inventory, coordinate purchasing activities, and ensure technicians have the materials they need to keep airport operations running without interruption.

Position Summary

The Inventory Specialist plays a vital role in supporting maintenance operations by maintaining accurate inventory records, ordering parts and supplies, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring timely delivery of materials.

The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and can effectively communicate with vendors, technicians, and management while maintaining accurate records and inventory controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily inventory operations for maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Organize inventory in a clean, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular inventory cycle counts.
  • Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock before shortages occur.
  • Create purchase orders and coordinate the procurement of maintenance parts and materials.
  • Follow up with vendors regarding quotations, order confirmations, shipping status, delivery schedules, and backorders.
  • Coordinate emergency parts orders to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Research and source replacement parts from manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and assist in obtaining competitive pricing.
  • Track open purchase orders and ensure timely receipt of all materials.
  • Report inventory status, shortages, purchasing activity, and key inventory metrics to management.
  • Work closely with supervisors and technicians to identify upcoming parts requirements for preventive maintenance and repair projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the company's inventory and purchasing systems.
  • Ensure the stockroom remains organized, properly labeled, and compliant with company safety standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and purchasing efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, warehouse operations, or procurement.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, aviation, manufacturing, or facilities maintenance preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience using inventory management systems or CMMS (UpKeep experience is a plus).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Forklift certification is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
A Day in the Life

Your day begins by reviewing incoming deliveries, verifying shipments, and ensuring technicians have the parts needed for scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs. Throughout the day, you'll communicate with vendors, process purchase orders, monitor inventory levels, research replacement components, and coordinate deliveries to keep maintenance operations running smoothly.

You'll also maintain inventory accuracy, organize the stockroom, prepare reports for management, and work closely with supervisors to anticipate future inventory needs before they become operational issues.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aviation maintenance inventory or industrial maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge of maintenance spare parts, electrical components, bearings, motors, gearboxes, conveyor components, or airport ground support equipment.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple vendors and managing purchase orders from request through delivery.
