Jobbeschreibung

Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually

NIC is looking for a hands‑on leader to own Production Planning and Inventory Control for its three Midwest sheet metal fabrication and assembly plants. This position turns customer demand into capacity‑feasible production schedules, sets and maintains the inventory plan, and keeps the ERP planning data and inventory records accurate – so the plants ship on time with the right inventory. The role supervises a team of planners and cycle counters and works daily with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Shipping and Accounting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
  • Leads the Production Planning and Inventory Control function for NIC’s three Midwest plants – directly supervises the Tennessee planning and cycle counting staff and provides process direction to the Ohio and Texas planners. Hires, trains, coaches and sets performance expectations for the team.
  • Applies planning, scheduling and inventory management techniques to ensure the integrity and achievement of the production and inventory plans – with focus on continuous improvement and on standardizing processes across all three plants.
  • Manages the overall inventory plan via continual analysis of demand and production information and the setting of planning parameters (lot sizes, order minimums/multiples, days supply, safety stock, reorder point/kanban levels, etc.) – reports on planned and actual inventory levels and inventory turns monthly.
  • Manages the weekly capacity planning/reporting function – compares demand to staffed capacity by department, sets weekly capacity expectations (including pre‑planning of necessary overtime or downtime) and generates capacity‑feasible production schedules that meet customer demand (including JIT/line‑sequence customers) and inventory plans.
  • Oversees the overall inventory control function – manages the cycle counting program and reporting of count accuracy, monitors, approves (as required) and reports on inventory adjustments, drives root cause correction, and supports month‑end and physical inventory activities with Accounting.
  • Manages MRP data integrity (item master, bills of material, routings and planning parameters) and ensures optimization of MRP output – continually improves scheduling and dispatch methods and practices to meet inventory, production efficiency and on‑time delivery goals.
  • Supervises and assists with the release of work orders/production schedules for Manufacturing and updates daily as required – monitors/reports on attainment to the production schedule, past due work and material shortages, and drives expediting as required.
  • Analyzes historical material variance and production efficiency data – works with Manufacturing to improve, and with Accounting/Operations to ensure standards are correct.
  • Coordinates with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Quality, Shipping and Sales to achieve customer required delivery dates and resolve material shortages.
  • Supervises and assists with WIP variances at the work order level and works with Manufacturing to ensure timely and accurate material management/reporting practices and procedures (job reporting, material issues and job close‑out). Manages change activity to WIP jobs at the work order level.
  • Assesses the impact of engineering change orders and executes changes as required – including revision changeovers and obsolete inventory exposure.
  • Develops and maintains key performance measures (inventory turns, cycle count accuracy, material variance, production on‑time, material shortages, etc.) and uses them to drive improvement.
  • Assists with special projects (i.e. new product/customer ramp‑up plans, work transfers between plants, ERP and reporting improvements)
  • This job description reflects the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Additional duties and responsibilities may be required, based upon business needs, at any time with or without notice.
QUALIFICATIONS & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering or accounting – or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Production Planning / Inventory Control position in a manufacturing environment (sheet metal fabrication, stamping, welding or assembly preferred) – with at least 2 years in a leadership/supervisory position.
  • Working knowledge of MRP, inventory management, bills of material and routings in an ERP system (experience with Infor CloudSuite Industrial / Syteline a plus, but not required).
  • Understanding of lot sizing (EOQ, order minimums/multiples), safety stock, reorder point and kanban/JIT replenishment, capacity planning and cycle counting practices.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications – advanced knowledge of Excel required (pivot tables, lookups, working with large data sets).
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) a plus.
  • Able to lead, train and develop a team, and to set and hold people to clear standards.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple changing priorities while meeting deadlines.
