Job summary

Responsibilities

About the Opportunity

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an Inventory Planner to join its Supply Chain team. This individual will play a key role in ensuring optimal inventory levels, supporting production schedules, and improving overall material flow throughout the facility.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in inventory planning, materials management, production planning, or supply chain coordination who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Purchasing, Production, Operations, and Warehouse teams to maintain inventory accuracy while balancing customer demand and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain inventory plans that support production schedules and customer demand.
  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend adjustments to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
  • Analyze inventory trends, usage history, and demand forecasts to optimize stock levels.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure timely replenishment of raw materials and components.
  • Work closely with Production, Operations, and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability.
  • Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory and develop strategies to reduce carrying costs.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to monitor inventory transactions and planning activities.
  • Track key inventory performance metrics including inventory turns, fill rates, service levels, and stock accuracy.
  • Participate in cycle count programs and assist with inventory reconciliation efforts.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory management, planning processes, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Prepare inventory reports and provide recommendations to leadership for improved planning and inventory control.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in Inventory Planning, Materials Planning, Supply Chain, Production Planning, or Inventory Control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory data and identify trends.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across multiple departments.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience
  • Manufacturing, food & beverage, consumer products, automotive, packaging, industrial manufacturing, or chemical industries.
  • Experience with forecasting, demand planning, or S&OP processes.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma principles.
  • Knowledge of inventory optimization, safety stock calculations, and replenishment planning.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) is a plus.
