Job description

BDR is seeking an Inventory Management Specialist II to join our growing team! This position will be on-site in Landover, MD. This position requires US Citizenship with a Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.

Role Overview

As the Inventory Management Specialist II, you will perform a range of warehouse and logistics tasks including inventory control, order fulfillment, equipment operation, and driving duties to support deliveries and material transfers. This role requires hands-on inventory management and interaction with various internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of warehouse functions including:
  • Inventory management
  • Order picking and packing
  • Assisting with shipping, receiving, and transfers
  • Supporting efficient utilization of space and material resources
  • Tracking inventory in the VA’s Inventory Management System (IMS)
  • Conducting regular inventories, audits, and cycle counts
  • Investigating inventory discrepancies and reporting findings
  • Operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Drive BDR provided vehicles to transport IT assets or materials between locations
  • Load and unload materials for delivery or transfer
  • Ensure vehicle safety inspections and logs are completed prior to and after each trip
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, IT personnel, and VA stakeholders to ensure smooth asset movement and inventory accuracy

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks)
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including exposure to varying temperatures
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory control or warehouse operations
  • Valid Forklift Operator Certification recognized in the state of Maryland
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Basic math and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting government contracts
  • Experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs or similar federal agencies

In addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Select applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance.
