Green Diamond is seeking an Inventory Forester for our Humboldt County, California timberlands. The role blends fieldwork with data analysis, GIS mapping, and remote sensing to maintain accurate forest inventories that support sustainable management.

This job is onsite in California at our Humboldt County timberlands.
You appreciate a combination of field and office work. In your personal life you enjoy outdoor excursions whether it be backpacking, hiking, hunting, skiing, etc. You tend to have a penchant for numbers: thinking in ratios, distributions or how a series of measurements would look graphically. You have a positive attitude, good work ethic, aptitude to learn new skills, and are relaxed navigating in the forest by yourself. You may have a 2- or 4-year college degree in forestry or a related field in Natural Resources with experience in timber cruising, vegetation surveys, ArcMap, and remote sensing technologies.
The Inventory Forester plays a key role in maintaining the forest inventory information that supports sustainable forest management across Green Diamond's California timberlands. This position combines fieldwork, data analysis, mapping, and technology to collect, evaluate, and maintain information about forest growth, composition, and condition. Responsibilities include designing and implementing timber cruises, utilizing GIS and remote sensing technologies, reviewing inventory data, and collaborating with forestry professionals to ensure accurate and reliable inventory information is used for management decisions.

The Planning and Inventory team supports long-term forest management by maintaining reliable information about forest conditions, growth, and composition. Our team is collaborative and encourages questions, new ideas, and continuous learning. We support one another's professional growth and work closely with colleagues across departments to help achieve Green Diamond's long-term forest management objectives.
You will work at our offices located in Humboldt County in Korbel which is along the northern California coast. Our offices are nestled in the forest where the redwoods meet the Pacific Ocean.
Hourly wage range with progression levels: $23.00 to $30.20. The pay range listed is just one part of Green Diamond’s total compensation package. Other rewards include eligibility to receive an annual company-wide financial bonus and the opportunity to receive a bonus based on your personal performance.
