Job summary

Methanex is seeking an Inventory Data Coordinator to support the Global Procurement Strategy within Material Management. You will maintain inventory master data, govern data quality, and provide analytics to improve material availability, cost management, and reliability.

As a data governance steward, you will harmonize catalog standards across regions, develop forecasts, and support category strategies for critical materials while aligning with safety and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a supply chain, material management, data management, or business-related discipline
  • CIPS certificate preferred but not required
  • Inventory management training preferred but not required
  • WHMIS training preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the custodian of the global manufacturing inventory catalog, ensuring adherence to defined data standards and naming conventions.
  • Establishes and maintains data quality controls, periodic audits, and corrective actions for the global catalog.
  • Reviews, challenges, and coordinates approval of regional requests for new inventory items, extensions, or changes in accordance with Methanex's global standards including but not limited to the Warehouse and Inventory Standard (PC2GLBL0403) and the MRO Inventory Setup Guideline (PC4GLBL0405).
  • Conducts investigations into any data abnormalities and recommends/implements corrective action where necessary to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintains adequate stock levels through timely stock replenishment using reorder reports and analyzing inventory movement to mitigate business risk.
  • Analyses data and provides recommendations for catalog rationalization, standardization, and lifecycle management.
  • Maintains an accurate, organized and reliable inventory database.
  • Proactively generates reporting on key performance metrics to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the warehouse and inventory function and processes.
  • Collaborates with the Global Advisor, Material Management to continuously enhance and harmonize reporting.
  • Identifies strategies to overcome any unusual issues.
  • Analyzes global inventory data to identify consumption trends, excess stocks, and opportunities for standardization and optimization.
  • Develops demand forecasts for key materials to support category strategies and sourcing decisions.
  • Partners with the Global Advisor, Material Management and regional procurement teams to translate analytics into practical inventory management actions.
  • Supports the delivery of the Responsible Care agenda for warehouse and inventory function.
  • Be fully aware of, understands and ensures compliance with all relevant materials procedures.
  • Supports team members and internal customers with respect to compliance to the procedures throughout the organization.
  • In conduct of role, ensures business practices employed conform to the Corporate expectations in terms of Code of Conduct and business ethics.
  • Designated legislative compliance contact person with responsibility for ensuring legislation in area of expertise is complied with and proposed changes/updates communicated
  • Ensures compliance with all Pressure Equipment Integrity Management (PEIM) responsibilities, relative to role, as per the PEIM Manual
  • Identifies any unusual occurrences and reports as incidents in KMI. Investigates these incidents and develops action plans. Proactively manages the action plan within the inventory role.
  • Fosters an environment of lessons learnt and continuous improvement within Materials and co-workers in Manufacturing.

Job description

Position Summary

The Inventory Data Coordinator is responsible forsupporting theexecution of the Global Procurement Strategy within Material Management bymaintaining accurate andgoverned inventory master data, enabling consistent inventory processes, andproviding analytical support to improve material availability, cost management, and operational reliability. Following the harmonization of the global inventory catalog, the role serves as a data governance steward, ensuring consistency, integrity, and controlled expansion of inventory master data across regions. The Coordinator leverages global data to identify trends, generate forecasts, and support the implementation of category management strategies for critical materials.

This 2-year role reports to the Global Advisor, Material Management, and works closely with regional warehouse teams, and other internal stakeholders to maintain effective inventory operations that align with financial, safety, and environmental requirements. In addition, the Coordinator leverages industry best practices, advanced software, and analytical techniques to drive inventory optimization, ensuring the availability of materials for stakeholders while maintaining a strong focus on cost reduction, reliability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications
Education, Experience, and/or Training
  • Degree in a supply chain, material management, data management, or business-related discipline
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) certificate or similar is preferred but not required
  • Inventory management training is preferred but not required
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training is preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to see and understand the impact of the procurement function on internal customers
  • Effectively able to manage competing priorities while maintaining close attention to detail
  • Knowledge of best practices in procurement and supply management
Security Clearance Requirements
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
Software
  • Previous procurement or material management experience, in a chemical, energy or other similar industrial setting is preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Familiarity with Maximo or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) databases, including reporting is preferred
Physical
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move more than 20 pounds.
  • Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work with a moderate noise level in the work environment is required.
Work Schedule
  • Monday - Friday working the 9/80 schedule
