Job description

Inventory Control & Warehouse Operations Specialist

Step into a role where precision, pace, and pride in a clean, safe facility all come together. As our Inventory Control & Warehouse Operations Specialist, you’ll keep products moving for our coffee, tea, allied items, and equipment business while upholding SQF standards every step of the way.

A day in the life

You start by reviewing inbound and outbound schedules, preparing the dock and storage locations for efficient put-away and picking. Using forklifts and other Material Handling Equipment (MHE), you load and unload trucks with care, optimizing space so finished goods and equipment inventories are easy to store and retrieve. Throughout the shift, you validate orders, perform cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies in our Warehouse Management System (WMS). When a count doesn’t match, you dive into JDE transactions, investigate entries, and make corrections to keep the data right. You partner closely with the warehouse supervisor to maintain inventory security and ensure sanitation routines keep the facility clean and compliant. On occasion, you lend a hand to the local sales team—covering a route and driving a sprinter van or box truck to meet customer needs. Safety is the constant backdrop to everything you do.

What you’ll own
  • Receive, pick, ship, and perform sanitation tasks in alignment with SQF policies and procedures.
  • Operate forklifts and other MHE to efficiently load/unload trucks and maximize storage utilization.
  • Protect inventory accuracy through process checks, system audits, and complete transaction documentation.
  • Research and correct overages/shortages from the distribution center or outside vendors promptly and accurately.
  • Analyze system transactions and investigate inventory data entry for accuracy in JDE.
  • Conduct full physical inventories and weekly cycle counts to maintain tight control of stock.
  • Adhere to all safety rules; keep work areas clean, orderly, and secure.
  • Work closely with the warehouse supervisor to uphold inventory security and housekeeping standards.
  • Support the local sales team when needed by providing route relief and driving sprinter vans or box trucks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support branch/warehouse operations.
What you bring
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ year of experience in factory, warehouse, inventory, finished goods, or line picking (preferred).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs; successful completion of a DOT physical; valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of quality control practices; clear written and verbal communication.
  • Comfort with WMS and computer terminals; accurate reading of numbers and text; basic computer skills.
  • Forklift certification preferred; willingness to learn related machinery.
How you work
  • Integrity, ownership, and a can-do approach.
  • Proactive about learning and self-improvement; seeks mentors and developmental relationships.
  • Sharp critical thinking for prioritization and continuous operational improvement.
  • Strong relationship-builder with leaders, peers, teams, and customers; collaborative and helpful by default.
Compensation

$20.25–$21.25 per hour
