Job description

SUMMARY:

The Inventory Control Technician supports both inventory control and compliance functions across cultivation and distribution operations. The position is responsible for performing daily inventory counts, updating seed-to-sale and tracking software, auditing plant movement, and ensuring records accurately match physical product. This role also assists with compliance sampling, testing coordination, and order fulfillment. Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong documentation discipline are essential to maintaining transparency, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (this list is not all inclusive)
  • Performs daily physical inventory counts across propagation, veg, flowering, and warehouse areas.
  • Enters and updates inventory data in tracking software to ensure accurate, real-time records.
  • Conducts cycle counts and audits of plant movement; update stages and locations to maintain traceability.
  • Performs final crop counts before harvest to ensure harvest records and tracking data align.
  • Tracks plant tag destruction and notify management to ensure accurate waste and destruction reporting.
  • Reviews greenhouse logs and clipboards to reconcile changes in plant locations or removals.
  • Applies lot tracking labels and maintains seed-to-sale traceability across all plant stages.
  • Weighs packages and enter data accurately to ensure on-hand inventory reflects true counts.
  • Reconciles physical inventory against system records weekly (or as needed) and prepare variance reports.
  • Prepares samples for quality control and state compliance testing, maintaining proper documentation.
  • Fulfills internal and external orders following SOPs — pulling packages, verifying weights, and confirming information in the software.
  • Intakes transfers properly and manifest outgoing product accurately in the tracking system.
  • Supports compliance documentation requests and audit readiness.
  • Maintains clean, organized work areas and keep equipment in proper condition.
  • Assists other teams when needed, including moving supplies, light cultivation support, or packaging support.
  • Follows all safety, security, and regulatory procedures.
  • Executes ad hoc projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Constantly: Walking; grasping/handling plants; bending/stooping/squatting; finger dexterity; repetitive motions; visual inspection of plants; coordination of hand and eye.
  • Frequently: Standing for long periods; twisting; reaching above shoulders; pushing/pulling carts or equipment; lifting up to 35 lbs.; working in warm, humid greenhouse environments.
  • Occasionally: Lifting up to 50 lbs. (100 lbs. with assistance); climbing ladders; working outdoors or around fluctuating temperatures; working evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended shifts when needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and tolerate greenhouse/warehouse temperatures above 75°F.
  • Ability to identify plant health problems such as mildew, mites, or mold.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and move between greenhouse, processing, and office areas.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and safety.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred.
