Job description

Purpose

Oversee the TRICEPS inventory management system to track the movement of product into and out of a distribution center and its related facilities. The function of this position is to effectively track product and control costs by minimizing potential shortages and product out of date losses on inventory levels that can range from $5-13 million. This position has responsibility to ensure compliance with SOX procedures, including monitoring and reporting on level of SOX compliance at all common facilities to the Finance Inventory Control Project Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Establishes parameters for and tracking of product movement throughout the facility (shipments, recalls, close dates, adjustments, etc.).
  • Independently conducts daily inventory counts in dry grocery warehouse; similarly conducts daily counts in perishable warehouse and makes necessary adjustments to balance inventory.
  • Manages the flow of product to and from outside storage facilities as required to fulfill demand.
  • Supervises two or more Inventory Controllers, Warehouse Clerks or production support positions that support inventory control on the same or other shifts.
  • Establishes task lists (i.e., workload and prioritization), monitors performance and productivity. Regularly modifies work schedule to enable coaching, performance evaluation, hiring and discipline of the direct reports.
  • Continually communicates with key business partners (buyers, payables, etc.) to ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained.
  • Works closely with distribution management team to ensure that inventory related issues are handled efficiently.
  • Independently analyzes and solves a variety of inventory problems that impact the overall performance of the facility on key measures such as, cost of credits and throughput.
  • Serves as the technical expert and operates with the highest authority for TRICEPS security access on site. Troubleshoots radio systems and related hardware operation.
  • Advises the Distribution Center Manager of inventory control issues and contributes to decisions regarding ergonomics, efficient slotting methods, and product dating issues.
  • Communicates information to employees concerning safety, sanitation, and operational changes.
  • Maintains Triceps systems in order to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and increase productivity.
About You
  • Two years of college with major in accounting, logistics, or statistics preferred and/or two years of technical training with inventory control systems.
  • Strong PC skills in Windows, AS400.
  • Two years’ experience in warehouse inventory control systems or related equivalent.
  • Certification in operation of power equipment.
  • Inventory Controllers (non-exempt) and/or other support staff on other shifts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a multitask environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, squat, turn, reach, pull, push, balance and lift objects up to 85 pounds, in a fast-paced environment for extended period of time.
  • Must be able to transport various objects weighing 20-85 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk and move about for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand and balance throughout the shift while operating industrial equipment.
  • Requires the ability to push, pull, grasp, twist and use sawing motions for extended periods of time.
  • Required to pass physical capacity test at 100%.
  • Regularly works in warehouse environment with heat and cold, including freezers, coolers and refrigerators in temperatures as low as -15 degrees Fahrenheit.
