Job summary

RJW Logistics Group seeks an experienced Inventory Control SSC Manager to lead the office-based shared services team across multiple warehouse locations. You will translate strategy into actionable plans, drive inventory accuracy, and manage KPIs with a focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education includes a high school diploma or GED; an associate or bachelor’s in supply chain/logistics/business preferred.
  • 5–10 years of inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management experience.
  • Experience with warehouse safety and 3PL is a plus; Synapse WMS knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in inventory systems (WMS/ERP) and advanced Excel for reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Translate strategy into daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly execution plans.
  • Lead and develop Assistant Managers and Supervisors; oversee staffing, payroll accuracy, performance reviews, and training.
  • Manage daily inventory flow across multiple warehouse locations; ensure accurate transactions and counts.
  • Oversee replenishment, transfer orders, and inventory distribution; monitor FEFO/FIFO reporting.
  • Own KPI tracking, dashboards, and reports; communicate insights to leadership and clients.
  • Lead cross-functional process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency.

Job Purpose:

The Inventory Control SSC Manager leads the day-to-day performance and service delivery of the office-based shared services team supporting inventory control across all warehouse locations. The Manager translates Director-level strategy and customer requirements into operating plans establishing standards, controls, priorities, and performance expectations that protect inventory accuracy and integrity. Leads Assistant Managers and Supervisors, and ensures accurate, compliant, and reliable inventory records, transactions, reporting, and inventory-control processes. The role oversees workforce coordination, inventory programs, product availability, demand planning, transfer and overstock strategies, replenishment and allocation, transfer orders, facility moves, FEFO/FIFO reporting, product holds, escalated discrepancies, KPI performance, cross-functional issue resolution, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This role requires a highly professional, self-motivated individual who can effectively represent the Inventory Control function both internally and externally, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Translate department strategy, customer requirements, and performance expectations into daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly execution plans.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable Assistant Managers and Supervisors; coordinate staffing coverage, labor planning, outsourcing needs, payroll accuracy, performance reviews, team goals, training, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Manage daily inventory control workflow across all supported warehouse locations, ensuring accurate and timely transactions, adjustments, transfer orders, reconciliations, reports, system activity, physical counts, and periodic inventories.
  • Manage inventory quality-improvement activities, including the Bay Valley process supporting product availability for Rico’s, and oversee replenishment, allocation, shipment tracking, CHEP orders, and inventory distribution across sites.
  • Apply historical data and trends to manage customer demand planning and transfer, replenishment, allocation, and overstock strategies; oversee FEFO/FIFO reports for customer transfer orders and excess inventories.
  • Manage transfer-order execution and customer facility moves, including planning, inventory tracking, system updates, stakeholder communication, reconciliation, issue resolution, and facility-update reporting.
  • Oversee on-hold products, finished goods, specialized pallets such as CHEP and PECO, weekly CHEP and PECO system updates, and inventory across multiple warehouses.
  • Review escalated inventory variances, discrepancies, customer claims, product holds, and inventory adjustments; approve or coordinate research, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and resolution.
  • Own KPI tracking and operational reporting; review dashboards, service levels, trends, risks, and business impacts and communicate recommendations to the Director, senior management, internal teams, and external clients.
  • Coordinate customer special projects, recalls, mock recalls, audits, and compliance with inventory-control policies, procedures, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Lead manager, supervisor, and operational meetings to align priorities, communicate risks and opportunities, and resolve cross-site issues.
  • Lead cross-functional process-improvement initiatives that improve inventory accuracy, reporting quality, workflow consistency, product availability, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the Director’s delegate when assigned and provide continuity of leadership, decision-making, and issue escalation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Complexity:

  • Hire, Train, Coach, Mentor and hold all warehouse staff accountable.
  • Ability to lead or support IT modification projects.
  • Ability to maintain an organized, neat and orderly operation as it pertain to Inventory Control.
  • Ensures that all project and client KPIs are met or exceeds expectation.
  • Requires knowledge of reporting requirements as it pertain to co-pack.
  • Good communication, problem resolution, and people skills.
  • Maintains AIB policy and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management.
  • Experience in warehouse safety and safety training.
  • 3PL Experience a Plus.
  • Synapse WMS Experience a Plus.
  • Experience working with multiple warehouse locations or distribution environments preferred.
  • Intermediate algebra and financial math are a must.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in inventory management systems (e.g., WMS, ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) with basic knowledge of Macros, Access, data entry and proficient computer abilities. Experience with reporting tools is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and create reports and dashboards to track KPIs.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies, trends, and root causes.
  • Ability to report/track trending and historical data.
  • Experience performing reconciliations and resolving inventory variances.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and reporting.

Communication Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyze business cases effectively.
  • Ability to respond to emails and inquiries in a timely, clear, and professional manner.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Organizational & Time Management

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to deadlines and accuracy.

Operational Knowledge

  • Understanding of inventory control processes, cycle counting, and reconciliation procedures.
  • Familiarity with pallet tracking systems (e.g., CHEP, PECO) and material handling processes.
  • Knowledge of demand forecasting and inventory planning concepts is a plus.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Excel with basic knowledge of Macros, Access, data entry and proficient computer abilities.

Language Skills Sets:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
  • Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Regularly work in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
  • Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
  • Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Must hear speech out of both ears in the normal range of 30db at 500 to 2000 Hz range.
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
  • Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
