Job summary

Seasats designs and deploys unmanned surface vessels and seeks an Inventory Control Specialist to maintain accurate inventory and keep the warehouse efficient in San Diego, CA. You will handle receiving, cycle counts, discrepancy resolution, and transactions that trace materials from receiving to outbound shipment.

Ideal candidates are experienced in inventory control, warehousing, and ERP systems, with strong Excel skills, and the ability to improve processes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage receiving: process incoming materials accurately and on schedule, monitor urgent deliveries.
• Perform cycle counts and wall-to-wall/annual counts, reconcile with system records.
• Investigate discrepancies and root causes, resolve with responsible team.
• Execute inventory transactions: bin-to-bin transfers, reservations, adjustments; trace material movement.
• Organize warehouse locations and material master data for easy retrieval.
• Identify improvements to inventory workflows; partner with Production and Supply Chain.
• Maintain accurate records in inventory management systems and escalate risks.

Role:

Inventory Control Specialist

Location:

San Diego, CA (in-office)

Salary Range:

$30 - $35 / hr + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits

Role Overview:

Seasats designs and deploys unmanned surface vessels that operate at sea for months at a time. As we scale production, this role will keep our physical inventory accurate and our warehouse running efficiently from receiving incoming materials, to investigating discrepancies, to improving how we track and store parts across our facility.

Role Details:

You will be responsible for:

• Managing receiving: processing incoming materials accurately and on schedule while maintaining vigilance for urgent deliveries
• Performing cycle counts as well as periodic wall‑to‑wall and annual physical inventory counts, reconciling physical inventory against system records
• Investigating and resolving discrepancies and variances including misplaced, damaged, excess, or otherwise discrepant material, identifying root causes and resolving with the responsible team
• Executing inventory transactions such as bin‑to‑bin transfers, reservations, and adjustments, and tracing material movement from receiving through storage, work‑in‑progress, and outbound shipment
• Organizing and managing warehouse locations and material master data so inventory is easy to find, store, and retrieve
• Identifying opportunities to improve inventory workflows and helping implement improvements, partnering with Production, Supply Chain, and other teams as needed
• Maintaining accurate, up‑to‑date records in our inventory management system(s) and escalating significant inventory risks to leadership

About You:

You are:

• Experienced with inventory control, warehousing, or materials handling, ideally in a manufacturing environment
• Familiar with inventory management systems (WMS/ERP or equivalent) and comfortable using Excel for basic tracking and reporting
• Familiar with lot/serial/batch tracking, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technology
• A self‑starter with a high degree of initiative, motivated by operational efficiency. Interested in improving inventory processes and helping document clear SOPs and standard work
• Able to prioritize effectively and stay organized in a fast‑paced, resource‑limited environment
• Comfortable operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, or willing to obtain certification
• Able to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs and perform work that requires standing and walking for most of the shift (approximately 3-5 miles per day), with or without reasonable accommodation
• Quick and adaptable. You thrive in our fast‑paced, high‑growth environment and are energized by the opportunity to help build solid foundations where processes aren’t yet fully established
• Someone who enjoys sharing knowledge and best practices with colleagues, even without formal mentoring or people‑management responsibilities
