Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or trade education and 3+ years of relevant experience.

• Valid U.S. driver’s license with 3 years of driving history.
• Experience with inventory, procurement, and facilities operations.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Inventory Control & Material Handling Technician performs a variety of procurement and manual duties in the operation of the Facilities department and for the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority (PTAA). An employee in this role is responsible for tasks such as identifying vendors, obtaining prices, maintaining and updating facility and maintenance records, and ordering, receiving, sorting, issuing, and organizing materials and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify vendors and suppliers, obtain price quotes, and place orders in accordance with PTAA purchasing policy
• Complete requisition and order forms
• Inventory materials and supplies in a warehouse-type environment, determine when to reorder as necessary, and initiate purchase requests
• Receive, store, and issue equipment, materials, and supplies to employees
• Load and unload supplies and materials
• Operate necessary equipment to support a variety of facilities and warehouse-type functions, such as a forklift, computer, vehicle, etc.
• Organize supplies into specific bins or assigned areas and make necessary records and entries in the inventory system
• Conduct periodic physical inventory of the contents of the facility
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of the flow of materials and supplies throughout the facility
• Maintain equipment used in the operation of the facility and physically clean the facility storage areas
• Participate in snow removal operations
• Perform a variety of maintenance tasks when needed
• Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of general facilities operations and related organizational purchasing policies and practices
• Considerable knowledge of the materials, parts, and supplies needed in Facilities operations
• Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to operate large equipment
• Experience with the methods, tools, and equipment used in the assigned trades
• Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to maintain, record, and keep accurate records
• Demonstrated ability to operate computer, forklift, cell phone, two-way radio, and other office and warehouse equipment
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and coworkers
• Demonstrated ability to perform some mechanical functions
• Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem-solving situations
• Demonstrated ability to operate motorized equipment of various types and sizes
• Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent initiative
• Demonstrated ability to communicate courteously with the public, coworkers, and supervisors
• High school or equivalent, associate's degree, or trade education and 3+ years of relevant experience required
• Ability to obtain a forklift operator's certification (specific to PTAA) when hired
• Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and fit-for-duty examination
• Hold and maintain valid U.S. driver's license with 3 years of verifiable driving history

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Possess a degree from an accredited college or university
• Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Ability to use a scissor lift, bucket truck, pallet jack, etc.
