Job summary

Spokane International is seeking a maintenance technician to perform mechanical and minor electrical work in the airport terminal facilities. You will operate and maintain heating, HVAC, boilers, pumps, valves and related systems, and assist with repairs and safety compliance.

The role requires four years of related experience, licensing within 90 days, and the ability to interact professionally with staff and the public.

Qualifications

  • Four years of experience in mechanical/electrical support or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must obtain Low Pressure Boiler license and CFC Type I, II EPA certificate within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid state motor vehicle license with clean record.
  • Ability to establish professional working relationships with peers, supervisors and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain heating, boiler, HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Perform repairs on diffusers, fixtures, doors, pumps, motors, valves and controls.
  • Paint, repair vinyl and walls; perform janitorial tasks as needed.
  • Provide safe, compliant, and reliable operation of terminal facilities and support areas.

Job description

Performs mechanical and minor electrical work in support of the maintenance function.

  • Operates and maintains heating, utility supply and disposal systems, mechanical systems, low pressure water and fire tubed boilers, gas and oil fired forced air type furnace and all related systems, heat exchangers, pumps, motors, valves, domestic hot and cold water systems, condensate systems, traps and controls.
  • Operates and maintains HVAC systems, including refrigeration compressors, air and water type evaporative condensers.
  • Monitors assigned areas and replaces burned-out lamps.
  • Performs repair of damaged diffusers or fixtures.
  • Assembles and uses scaffolding. Operates lift devices.
  • Requests adequate supplies necessary for the replacement and repair of items pertinent to basic continued service functions of the terminal and other facilities.
  • Repairs and maintains overhead doors, automatic doors, air compressors and related systems.
  • Paints, repairs vinyl and wall.
  • Provides aid and guidance to the Public.
  • Notifies the Airport's Terminal Maintenance Superintendent of any job related problems including accidents and/or injuries.
  • Observes all safety rules and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs snow and ice control duties as required.
  • Performs janitorial duties, pick and shovel work.
Experience/Education:
  • Four years experience working in the above related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Within 90 days of hire must possess both a current Low Pressure Boiler license and a CFC Type I, II EPA approved certificate for refrigeration. Failure to obtain within 90 days may result in termination.
  • Valid state motor vehicle license, free of serious or frequent traffic violations.
  • Must have poise and personal bearing to deal with all people. Must be able to establish a work relationship with peers, supervisor, and public.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to operate job related equipment.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to maintain mobility within all areas of responsibilities.
  • Position requires being able to use hands to finger, handle and feel.Must be able to reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to climb and balance as well as being able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Must be able to talk, hear and smell.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and lift up to fifty pounds on a regular basis with the ability to lift seventy-five pounds on occasion.

  • All applicants must be able to obtain and maintain Airport security badge as condition of employment.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.
Working Contacts with Others:
  • CEO/Executive Director, Directors, Airport employees, Tenants, and the Public.
Working Conditions, Travel, Environment and Potential Hazards:
  • Travel in local area.Attend education up-date classes.Work performed primarily in and around the Airport Terminal Facilities Complex.Work performed around moving, mechanical parts and some work is performed in high, precarious places.Some exposure to fumes and airborne particles.Also exposure to cold, heat and outside weather conditions.Some exposure to electrical shock risk and vibration.Moderately noisy to loud work environment.Hearing protection and safety glasses provided and required for some tasks.
