Job summary

Tom Thumb Supermarket in McKinney, TX is seeking a Receiver / Inventory Control Clerk (ICC) to oversee DSD operations, ensure accurate receiving, stocking, and inventory control. You will walk the store daily to scan items, identify stock issues, and work with order writers, night crew, merchandisers, and the File Maintenance Clerk to maintain accuracy and readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience with receiving, tracking, and reconciling inventory in retail.
• Basic computer skills including email and Excel.
• Ability to monitor damaged, expired, or salvageable merchandise.
• Strong organizational ability to maintain backroom cleanliness and security.
• Decision making and problem-solving for inventory deliveries.
• Effective communication with vendors and drivers.
• Physical ability to lift 5–50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Customer service orientation focused on accurate inventory and store readiness.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to monitor damaged, expired, or salvageable merchandise and process returns for credit accurately.
• Organizational Skills: Strong ability to maintain cleanliness, security, and order in the backroom and receiving areas.
• Problem‑Solving Ability: Capable of making decisions independently and resolving issues related to inventory and deliveries.
• Communication Skills: Effective interaction with vendors, delivery drivers, store management, and fellow associates.
• Physical Capability: Ability to lift/carry 5–50 lbs., push/pull 10–50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Customer Service Orientation: Commitment to upholding a positive customer experience through accurate inventory and store readiness.
