Job summary

UNFI in Greenwood, IN is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Supervisor to oversee inventory accuracy, product slotting, and damage processing in our distribution centers. You will coordinate with Operations, Purchasing and Sales to minimize shrink and maintain product quality.

This role requires 4+ years in inventory or warehouse management, plus 2+ years supervising teams, strong leadership, and solid MS Office skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Suite skills.
  • 4+ years in inventory, quality control, and/or food warehouse management.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Understanding of Receiving and Shipping functions.
  • Good organization and time management.
  • Good judgment in supervisory scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage processes to assurance accuracy of inventory.
  • Ensure inventory discrepancies are investigated and corrected in a timely manner.
  • Assure the highest level of product quality is maintained.
  • Oversee product slotting analysis, product slot assignment and slot movements. Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance to re-align warehouse racking in support of proper product slotting.
  • Develop, evaluate and perform performance appraisals of department personnel.
  • Track inventory shrink and assist other departmental areas in reducing overall product loss.
  • Provides Management with updates and reports on inventory issues and updates to SOPs.

What does it mean to be a part of the Inventory Control team?

Our Inventory team is responsible for tracking all inventory within our distribution centers. This includes maintaining accurate records and researching any discrepancies with the product. It is imperative to understand the layout of the warehouse to ensure the proper location of the product. Researching any damages/adjustments of product, tracking expiration dates, and alert management of any potential safety concerns that may arise. Within this department, you will ensure proper handling of damaged and/or spoiled merchandise, pulling and processing salvaged product, review and analyze inventory reports to identify trends, and work directly with various departments and local operations leadership to provide recommendations.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Oversee all functions relating to product slotting, returns / damage processing, product integrity, product recall processing and overall accuracy of facilities inventory. Develop the proper structure of the department to achieve the best Quantity On Hand Out of Stock (QOHOS%), achieve the lowest possible inventory shrink, manage product quality and code dates, and manage the slotting process for all Stock Keeping Units (sku's). Coordinate with Operations, Purchasing and Sales to assure a high level of inventory accuracy, to assure product shrink is minimized, and to assure product quality is maintained at UNFI standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
  • Develop and manage processes to assurance accuracy of inventory

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred and/or equivalent related experience
  • Strong Microsoft Suite Skills
  • Four (4) or more years of inventory, quality control, and/or food warehouse management experience
  • Two (2) or more supervisory experience
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Solid computer skills
  • Solid understanding of Receiving and Shipping functions
  • Good organization and Time Management skills
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
