Job Overview

Under the direction of the Production & Inventory Control Manager, the Production Coordinator assists in the scheduling of assigned product lines and ensures all manufactured and purchased parts are available for production to meet customer delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

A Day In The Life

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments.
  2. Review the master schedule for upcoming assigned product line requirements. Develop the schedule of production for assigned product lines to ensure on time customer delivery. Advise the Plant Manager as to increases or decreases in production plans.
  3. Review the availability of manufactured and purchase parts for the assigned product lines.
  4. Acquire shop orders, purchase order due dates and manufactured parts build dates.
  5. Expedite any needed manufactured or purchase parts, contacting vendors or purchasing as needed, to ensure availability in line with production schedules.
  6. Issue any required production orders in support of assigned product lines.
  7. Act as technical resource to purchasing, manufacturing, and other departments to coordinate efforts and to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
  8. Follow up to ensure assigned product lines are completed according to customer and MRP requirements.
  9. Adjust production schedules as needed based on part availability and customer demands.
  10. May maintain awareness and follow-up on back order repair requirements. May follow-up to ensure parts are shipped.
  11. Attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings.
  12. Complete special projects as assigned.
  13. Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  14. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Education and/or Experience

Requires four years of high school and one to three years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as shop orders, purchase orders, and production documentation. Ability to complete picklists, purchase orders, schedules and assigned reports. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,
