Job summary

MedStar Health in Washington, DC is seeking an Inventory Control Coordinator reporting to the Inventory Control Manager to monitor and control warehouse inventory levels. Interfaces with Information Systems and provides PC and ERP support for the department.

Key duties include cycle counts, stock level maintenance, generating ERP reports, training staff on ERP applications, and coordinating with Patient Billing and other departments to ensure accurate inventory and patient care.

Qualifications

  • On-the-Job Training or 1–3 years formal training in Business Accounting or related discipline.
  • 1–2 years of inventory systems experience including computerized inventory systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes monitors and controls all inventory levels and metrics affecting budgets.
  • Verifies stockouts, performs cycle counts, and resolves discrepancies.
  • Maintains item and par level changes across systems and physical storage locations.
  • Generates reports with ERP and other systems to investigate inventory problems and input changes.
  • Trains Associates on PC/ERP applications and inventory policies.

About the Job

Reporting to the Inventory Control Manager the Inventory Control Coordinator establishes monitors and controls warehouse inventory levels. Interfaces with Information Systems and provides PC and ERP systems support for the department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Establishes monitors and controls all inventory levels and associated metrics which indirectly affect budgetary constraints.
  • Verifies stockouts performs cycle counts to verify inventory quantities and resolves discrepancies.
  • Maintains and performs item and par level changes as needed in all materials management systems and physical storage locations.
  • Investigates inquiries concerning departmental supply charges.
  • Uses the ERP system and other materials management systems to generate reports that aid in the investigation of inventory problems and input warehouse/purchasing changes. Creates and monitors requests for item master adds changes and deletes (ACDs).
  • Trains associates on PC and ERP system applications departmental inventory policies and procedures. Provides computer/IS support to department users. Training and support activities will require the flexibility to occasionally work all shifts as needed.
  • Discusses and coordinates additions changes and deletions to the patient charge master with Patient Billing and Information Systems.
  • Monitors inventory policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Recommends policy and process changes that will enhance inventory control accuracy and other associated corporate and departmental goals.
  • Establishes and maintains alternate sources of supply to ensure high levels of product availability and patient care by developing contacts and relationships with vendors, manufacturers, other Medstar System entities and non-Medstar area hospitals.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • On-the-Job Training or one to three years formal training in Business Accounting or related discipline required.
Experience
  • 1-2 years of progressively more responsible job related experience including computerized inventory systems required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • An intermediate level of proficiency in Excel and other MS Office Suite applications.
Hiring Range

USD $49,192.00 - USD $87,422.00 /Yr.
