Job summary

Albertsons Companies Inc. is seeking a Receiver / Inventory Control Clerk to manage backroom inventory and ensure accurate receiving and stocking of DSD merchandise. You will walk the store daily, scan items, and collaborate with night crews, merchandisers, and store leadership to maintain stock integrity.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong communication, with a focus on protecting inventory and guest satisfaction in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with receiving, tracking and reconciling inventory in retail or grocery.
• Basic computer skills including email and Excel.
• Ability to monitor damaged, expired or salvageable merchandise and process returns.
• Maintain clean, secure backroom and receiving areas.
• Communicate with vendors, drivers and store management to ensure accuracy.

Job description

A Day in the Life:

As a Receiver / Inventory Control Clerk (ICC), you’ll be overseeing all Direct Store Delivery (DSD) operations, ensuring merchandise is accurately received, accounted for, and stocked. You’ll walk the store daily to scan DSD items, identify out-of-stock or overstock conditions, and partner closely with order writers, night crew, merchandisers, and the File Maintenance Clerk. You’ll also communicate regularly with the Store Director to support inventory accuracy and promotional execution. Your role includes monitoring donations, managing grocery and non‑perishable inventories, and maintaining a secure, clean, and organized backroom environment. If you’re detail‑oriented, tech‑savvy, and thrive in a fast‑paced setting, this role offers a great opportunity to contribute meaningfully to store operations.

What you bring to the table

• Inventory Management Skills: Experience with receiving, tracking, and reconciling inventory, especially in a retail or grocery environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills including email, Excel, and familiarity with store portals or inventory systems.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to monitor damaged, expired, or salvageable merchandise and process returns for credit accurately.
• Organizational Skills: Strong ability to maintain cleanliness, security, and order in the backroom and receiving areas.

• Physical Capability: Ability to lift/carry 5–50 lbs., push/pull 10–50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Customer Service Orientation: Commitment to upholding a positive customer experience through accurate inventory and store readiness.
