Job summary

Avantor’s Emeryville site is hiring a Service Technician to support lab and production services. You will perform mission-based lab work, handle glassware processing, maintain stock levels, and assist with safety and quality. A valid driver’s license, 1+ year of related experience, and strong customer service skills are required.

Hourly pay range is $21–$25 with a 8:30–5 schedule. Primary site in Emeryville, CA, with travel to nearby facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ years in customer service, inventory replenishment, or material handling.
• Microsoft Office experience.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Mileage reimbursement provided for travel between sites.
• Glass wash experience preferred.
• Knowledge of scientific products and services a plus.
• Background checks, health and safety compliance may be required.
• Strong communication and excellent customer service attitude.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work independently.
• Ability to read/write technical information.

Responsibilities

• Operate glassware processing equipment and collect dirty glassware from labs.
• Distribute clean glassware to laboratories and maintain inventory.
• Maintain inventory levels and order supplies; use autoclave where needed.
• Prepare solutions and update standard operating procedures.
• Assist in safety activities and site projects as required.
• Receive, unpack and verify materials at docks; resolve discrepancies.
• Transact stocking quantities using scanners and software.

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the supervisor of site services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Hourly Rate: $21 - $25

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm

Location: Primary site in Emeryville, CA; Will be supporting multi-sites (including in Emeryville and driving up to 30 miles to other facilities)

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will

• Operates equipment related to the processing of glassware
• Collects dirty glassware from laboratories throughout the customer site
• Distributes clean and sterile glassware to laboratories throughout the customer site
• Maintains inventory of glassware and glass-washing supplies; orders and replaces items as needed.
• Using specialized equipment such as an autoclave
• Prepare solutions used in glassware processing
• Updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures
• Participates in Safety Activities
• Receiving of products (Consumables, chemicals, samples, etc.) at customer dock or other shipping/receiving point, including unpacking and de-trashing of materials if necessary.
• Recording receipts of inventory against packing slips, including following up on any noted discrepancies.
• Maintaining accurate inventory levels both within Avantor storerooms and also at customer areas where back-stock of consumables is stored.
• Transportation of consumables throughout the customer facility on wheeled carts and stocking of POU locations based on required inventory. The schedule for each POU may be multiple times per day, daily, or less frequently.
• Accurate transacting of stocking quantities by item and location, utilizing a scanner and proprietary software, and downloading of transactions into our system as required to verify records capture and order generation.
• Monitor and engage in regular POU audits for proper signage, including items, min/max levels, contact information, and maintain a record of changes to items and quantities as needed.
• Serve as the point person for customer communications of any inventory availability issues and/or concerns, as well as a defined escalation path.
• Support Special Projects such as tours and other non-standard activities onsite.
• Meet all scheduling requirements of the role, including performing any other duties/tasks assigned.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$42,500.00 - $68,425.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
