The Inventory and Billing Assistant is responsible for operating room equipment maintenance and materials management; maintains operating room supply and equipment inventory; assigns and computes patient surgical charges.

Principal Job Functions

• *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
• *Orders new and replacement instrumentation/equipment as directed by management personnel; receives and dispenses all direct order items delivered to the department; arranges for the borrowing and loaning of instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
• Arranges for repair of equipment and instrumentation as directed; maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies as designated.
• *Accurately reviews and computes patient surgical charges in accordance with established rates and guidelines; monitors cost – charge ratios for surgical supplies, notifies management of discrepancies and performs follow‑up activities as needed.
• Collects and compiles data for improving cost‑effectiveness of department operations as requested.
• *Responds to problems or discrepancies in inventory or billing; identifies and communicates opportunities to improve care.
• Seeks educational and in‑service opportunities to maintain and expand clinical knowledge, skills and techniques relevant to position.
• Participates in unit‑based quality improvement activities and the hospital’s quality improvement initiatives as appropriate.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

High school diploma or equivalency required. Minimum of one (1) year experience with Windows and Microsoft applications (Word and Excel) required.
