Job Title: Inventory Controller
Location: Newark, DE (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Reports To: Assistant Controller
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all inventory accounting functions, including standard costing, adjustments, and month-end close processes.
- Establish, document, and refine inventory policies and procedures to maintain timely and accurate transaction recording.
- Evaluate and reconcile inventory reserves, obsolescence, and shrinkage; recommend necessary adjustments and accruals.
- Lead and coordinate full physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and the investigation of discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Operations teams to monitor usage trends, returns, and cost fluctuations.
- Review and confirm accuracy of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) across equipment, materials, and consumables.
- Produce and deliver monthly and quarterly financial summaries, KPI dashboards, and variance analyses for executive review.
- Assist in system upgrades and process improvements related to ERP inventory and cost accounting functionality.
- Strengthen and maintain effective internal control frameworks surrounding inventory.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop team members within the inventory accounting function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required; CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in inventory or cost accounting within a multi-site service or manufacturing environment.
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, inventory valuation methodologies, and standard costing principles.
- Approximately 25% domestic travel required.
