Description

JOB PURPOSE: The Clinician uses sound professional judgment and best practices to support the mental health, safety, and well-being of every resident in care while maintaining compliance with established state and federal standards and requirements. Conducts mental health assessments, provides ongoing individual and group counseling services, screens for human trafficking concerns, and offers crisis intervention services.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support services for general population disaster shelters.
  • Provide mental health emergency assessments and evaluations.
  • Implement crisis response, trauma-informed care, harm reduction principles, and acute mental health de-escalation techniques.
  • Follow public health protocols appropriate to the community.
  • Engage with shelter residents to ensure stability.
  • Prepare goal-oriented psychosocial diagnostic assessments, service plans, and progress reports.
  • Offer case consultations, individual counseling, crisis intervention for children, and family counseling.
  • Meet all deadlines set by supervisors and federal partners.
  • Maintain a caseload according to agency policies and licensing standards.
  • Conduct intake interviews and initial assessments.
  • Assess, treat, develop, and update therapeutic plans.
  • Provide clinical functions such as counseling, crisis management, and evaluations.
  • Record clinical data and report as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Support staff with admission/discharge data.
  • Ensure continuity of services for children.
  • Assist in discharge planning.
  • Maintain an on-call schedule for residents and staff support.
  • Stay informed about community resources.
  • Communicate effectively with referral sources and providers.
  • Participate in meetings and team decisions.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Prepare reports per policies and standards.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

EDUCATION: Master’s of Social Work with clinical experience, or a relevant master’s degree with clinical experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of clinical employment.

EXPERIENCE: Licensed LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LPC-I, LMFT-A, or LMSW, or eligible for licensure. At least 2 years of clinical experience, including crisis intervention. Proficiency in Spanish/English required. Preferred experience with immigrant populations and child welfare.

CERTIFICATIONS: NIMS Core Curriculum Courses: IS-100.C, IS-200.C, IS-700.B, IS-800.D.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.

LICENSES: Valid driver’s license with a clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle.

OTHER: Willing to travel as needed; must not pose safety risks.
