*JOB SUMMARY*

The Intra Operative Technologist Advanced works under the general supervision of a Radiologist to provide surgical guidance for intraoperative and angiographic procedures under sterile technique using advanced imaging equipment for patients in the ambulatory and/or hospital settings, as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.

*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE*

1. Able to perform high quality advanced intraoperative procedures according to exam protocols, using sterile technique in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
2. Able to perform intraoperative procedures using advanced imaging equipment such as portable diagnostic equipment, 3D systems, portable fluoroscopy, portable CT, and Hybrid IR/OR systems where appropriate according to exam protocol.
3. Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to: identify patient and service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient's ability to tolerate exam.
4. Prepares patient and area for procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
5. Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene requirements.
6. Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Able to operate, calibrate, document and maintain QC records on our interoperative imaging equipment. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
7. Reports issues to management or appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.
8. Ensures you are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
9. Obtains, verifies and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status and shielding precautions taken, consent forms, policies and procedures, etc.
10. Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.

*KEY SUCCESS FACTORS*

1. Able to provide surgical guidance for advanced surgical procedures such as: Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), 3D imaging for facial/pelvic and spinal navigation, Ortho trauma: Pelvic fixation, IMN of long bones, ORIF, CRPP, External fixators, Total joints (Ankle, hips, shoulder, etc), Spinal exams for scoliosis, odontoid screw, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, SI fusion, and Dorsal column stimulator procedures. Able to perform post processing using 3D imaging, DSA road-mapping, cine and reconstruction of various exams such as: cerebral and peripheral angiograms, thrombectomies, ECMO, Impella, Laser Lead removal of pacemaker managers, TAVR, Stroke, pacemaker/defibrillator placement and Hybrid vascular suites (Bi-plane and single plane), AAA, aortic grafts, Fistulagrams, IVC Filter placement/retrieval, placement of thrombolytic catheters, and needle guidance.
2. Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease to ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, remaining professional, reviewing patient satisfaction scores and developing action plans when required.
3. Able to perform tasks unaided without need for routine oversight, maintaining a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.
4. Able to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.
5. Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education and skills appropriate for the care of the following age groups (specific to department): newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult and geriatric. Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
6. Able to take call, if required.
