Banner University Medical Center Phoenix is a level 1 Trauma, Magnet, Teaching hospital with 24 operating suites, including Hybrid, DaVinci, and MIS rooms. Our specialties include General, Trauma, ENT, OMFS, Plastics, Ortho, Neuro, Robotics, Gyn, Urology, Ophthalmology, vascular, transplants, TAVR’s, hearts, Bariatric, and NICU. We perform over 300 cases weekly.

As a Surgical Technologist, you will support Neuro, ENT, and some General cases, assisting with all service lines when cases wrap early or during on-call shifts.

This position primarily supports General, Trauma, GYN, and Robotics cases, with flexibility for other cases and on-call duties.

SHIFT DETAILS

  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Hours per Week: 4-10s | 40 hrs
  • Shift: 10:30am - 9pm
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, with varied days off
  • On Call: Yes, weekend and holiday rotations required.

Enjoy a flat rate $5/hr for call, $1/hour weekend shift differential, and an 18% night shift differential when applicable.

POSITION SUMMARY

This role involves selecting and handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery, and providing sterile supplies during procedures.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Preparing for surgical procedures, including pulling instruments and supplies, and reviewing case carts.
  2. Anticipating the surgeon's needs, passing instruments, and retracting tissue.
  3. Maintaining aseptic technique, disposing of sharps and trash, and assisting in instrument and sponge counts.
  4. Ensuring accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
  5. Assisting with OR turnover, stocking supplies, and cleaning.
  6. Providing administrative support as needed.
  7. Participating in training and orientation of staff and students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma/GED and current BLS certification.
  • Registration with State Regulatory Agency if applicable.
  • Manual dexterity, professionalism, organization, and quick responsiveness required.
  • Must stay updated on field developments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from a certified surgical technology program or two years OR experience.
  • Additional education or experience preferred.
