Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking an Interventional Vascular Technologist to support diagnostic and interventional IR procedures with emphasis on patient safety and high-quality imaging. The role includes day shifts with on-call and weekend requirements, and opportunities for professional growth.

The candidate will scrub in, educate patients, and maintain accurate procedural records while ensuring comfort and safety throughout the workflow.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by ARRT and in good standing.
  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol using sterile technique.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during and after exams.
  • Understand the primary purpose of drugs used in IR, including indications, contraindications, and contrast interactions.
  • Record and maintain procedural data including injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
  • Monitor equipment, systems, and arrange timely repairs as needed.
  • Attend periodic in-service programs and professional sessions to learn new techniques.

Education

Graduate of accredited school of radiologic technology
Registered Technologist credentialed by ARRT
Current state licensure as Radiology Technologist
Basic Life Support certification

Interventional Vascular Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic.hey provide technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures as well as acquire all imaging and post processing of images.

A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:00 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m. + on-call, weekends, holiday rotation and the ability to float to Hillcrest location requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
  • Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
  • Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
  • Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.
  • Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
  • Basic Life Support certification

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
  • Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography: R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology: R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) certification
  • Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams
  • Experience in a high-volume angiography department
