Job summary

The Interventional Technologist - Neuro Interventional Radiology at Akron General performs diagnostic and interventional procedures under supervision, assisting interventional radiologists with imaging and post-processing.

You will scrub in using sterile technique, educate patients about procedures, ensure safety and comfort, and maintain accurate procedural data. Shift is Days + Call, with on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing
• Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist (RL)
• Basic Life Support certification

Responsibilities

• Scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during and after exams.
• Demonstrate understanding of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast interactions, and effects.
• Record and maintain procedural data (injection data, fluoroscopy time, and information).
• Monitor equipment, maintain cleanliness, and arrange timely repairs.
• Learn new technical information and skills through in-service programs and professional sessions.

Interventional Vascular Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic. They provide technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures as well as a cquire all imaging and post processing of images.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, with on-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Utilize sterile or aseptic techniques to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.

• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.

• Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.

• Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.

• Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.

• Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.

• Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology

• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing

• Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist (RL)

• Basic Life Support certification

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist

• Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography: R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology: R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT)

• Previous experience in ahigh volume angiography department

• Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy

• Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

• Records and maintains procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.

• Provides after hours standby call in service.

• Monitors equipment, systems, cleans equipment and effects timely repair.

• Teaches and instructs students and new hires.

• Learns new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

• Other duties as assigned.
