Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited imaging program preferred.
  • Required: Current ARRT (R) and current license as a Radiologic Technologist.

Make a Difference
The Interventional Radiology Technologist will perform diagnostic angiographic procedures and complete complex vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures exams on inpatient, outpatient and emergency department patients.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

  1. Assist radiologist and/or other physician with procedures and “scrubbing in” as necessary.
  2. Perform each exam using proper technical and positioning factors in accordance to the protocol manual.
  3. Monitor patient condition and evaluate exam for quality and completeness.
  4. Set up and maintain sterile tray.
  5. Operate all imaging and processing equipment using proper technique.
  6. Utilize all EMR features and document: complete and accurate patient history, document any additional patient information in RIS for the radiologists’ review.
  7. Has knowledge and skills to give care to all age groups. This includes: Involving parents when appropriate, Utilizing radiation protection when appropriate and Using additional personnel when appropriate.
  8. Ensure that all exam information is correct, complete, and recorded, including supplies.
  9. Ensure all forms completed for invasive procedures.
  10. Supervise students by: Ensuring that exam to be performed is within the student’s capabilities, Providing students with direct supervision for all exams until competency is documented, Providing students with indirect supervision once exam competency is documented, Evaluating and approving all radiographic studies, and Completing student objective sheets and area evaluations.
  11. Perform basic safety by: Practicing Isolation and Universal Precautions, Participating in annual inservices as required by external regulatory/accreditation groups and management, Awareness and communication to others of fall risks, Practicing Radiation Safety, Utilizing lead aprons, and Closing lead-lined doors.
  12. Ability to utilize knowledge of sterile technique.
  13. Ability to utilize basic computer knowledge.
  14. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of vascular anatomy.
  15. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  16. Ability to independently manage time and priorities.
  17. Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  18. Ability to work without direct supervision.
  19. Ability to work accurately and efficiently, under time constraints.
  20. Exhibits outstanding customer service skills.
  21. Graduate of an accredited imaging program preferred.
  22. Required: Current ARRT (R) and current license as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of Indiana.
