Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking an Interventional Radiologic Technologist to join our imaging team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank in Minneapolis, MN. This casual position supports day shift coverage with on-call evenings/weekends, requiring a minimum of one shift per month.

The role assists with invasive procedures in interventional angiography suites, ensures quality diagnostic images, and collaborates with radiologists and the care team.

Qualifications

• ARRT Registered required.

Responsibilities

• Participates in creating a culture of patient safety.
• Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness.
• Verify patient identification and documentation.
• Communicate with and educate patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of the procedure.
• Achieves quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocols.
• Proficient in patient preparation and sterile tray set up.
• Performs examinations.
• Identifies relevant data from images accurately.
• Communicates pertinent data clearly to the appropriate health care professional.
• Accurately completes computer functions; edits, scheduling, billing, status changes and image transfers in a timely manner.
• Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving.
• Accurate and timely identification and uploading of images into PACS.
• Orients and mentors new employees and students.
• Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives.
• Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position.
• Cleans and maintains rooms and supplies.
• Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is working properly.
• Maintains a high level of competency.
• Accepts new technology as it’s introduced into the facility.
• Applies established standards of aseptic technique during patient preparation, draping and set up for all procedures.
• During invasive procedures able to achieve and maintain homeostasis manually or with mechanical device of physician choice when required.
• Assists the radiologist with required catheter and wire manipulation while maintain the required sterile technique.
• Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
