Qualifications

  • BLS required on hire; ARRT Radiography; California Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist with Fluoroscopy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiologic interventional procedures using approved protocols and safety standards.
  • Receives and transcribes verbal orders per institutional policies.
  • Scrubs, monitors, assists, circulates, and maintains vascular site management.
  • Posts and distributes interventional images; supports equipment and inventory control.
  • Prepares and administers contrast; follows safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Documents in EMR and other logs; participates in shift coverage as assigned.

Job Description

The Radiologic Intervention Technologist II is an intermediate level Technologist that performs Radiologic Interventional studies that may range in complexity depending on clinical area, but are generally routine to more complex relative to a specific patient population and may assist physicians in performing procedures. May transport medications from the delivery area to an authorized imaging area. Ensures that the room is functioning properly, stocked and prepared for various procedures. Exercises cultural competency in providing patient education. Responsible for maintaining a safe environment and identifying and reporting any safety concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Performs Radiologic Interventional procedures utilizing approved protocols per standards of practice for safety,speed, organization, precision and accuracy based upon the department's accrediting agency and/or department guidelines for exam protocols, adhering to department safety, radiation safety and productivity standards.
  • Per the Radiologic Intervention technologist's scope of practice and in accordance with institutional and departmental sterilization protocols, policies and procedures, receives and transcribes verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners.
  • Scrubs, monitors, assists and circulates safely and timely; supplying necessary equipment and performing vascular site management, while supporting FDA approved and clinical research procedures.
  • Reviews all documentation and properly post processes all Radiologic Interventional images for accuracy and prepares/sends images to designated viewing systems.
  • Actively participates in inventory control, assures rooms are properly stocked, and maintains par requirements.Maintains crash cart as needed.
  • Assists physicians performing procedures and ensures all supplies and/or devices are prepared and available in accordance with sterile technique and infection control policies and practices.
  • Prepares and administers contrast and follows department procedures and guidelines in handling of contrast to comply with all safety requirements. Observes radiation and laser protection to regulatory staff requirements.
  • Adheres to the medication management/disposal guidelines, to include receiving, stocking, and holding the medication container provided by the Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) to enable the LIP to withdraw medication. Discards the container once it is empty.
  • Inputs accurate and timely documentation in all applicable electronic medical records systems, workbooks and or logs. Responsible for weekend and begin and/or end of shift duties as applicable to shift assignment.
  • Operates, calibrates and maintains imaging equipment and accessory instruments used in exams. Recognizes and reports defective equipment immediately and marks equipment as "out of service". Takes an active role in obtaining service for down equipment. Maintains competency in the use of diagnostic and interventional instruments and devices.
  • Serves as a preceptor for peers, students and other staff members. Maintains the section workflow without jeopardizing patient care, and may provide backup leadership as the technologist in charge.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and other department/organizational committees, such as The Joint Commission related topics, safety audits, turn around time (TAT) projects, and customer service. Prepares and/or presents educational material to staff, such as case reviews, in-services, safety, and Joint Commission related topics.
  • Provides patient and family education, specific to age and demographic population as appropriate.
Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED - minimum
  • Assoc. Degree/College Diploma Graduate of JRCERT accredited radiological program. - minimum
  • Bachelor's Degree Graduate of JRCERT accredited radiological program - preferred

Experience

  • 3 years Experience performing a variety of Radiologic Interventional scans and/or procedures in a busy clinical environment. - minimum

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Upon Hire minimum
  • Imaging Registered Rad Tech - Upon Hire minimum American Registry of Radiologic Technologist - R.T. (R) (ARRT) - Radiography
  • Imaging CA Radiologic Tech - Upon Hire minimum California Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist with Fluoroscopy
