Job description

**This is a PRN position.**

**A caregiver in this position works varying shifts. This job requires no call responsibility.**

Interventional Vascular Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.

+ Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.

+ Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.

+ Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.

+ Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.

+ Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.

+ Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.

+ Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing.

+ Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.

+ Basic Life Support certification.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist.

+ Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy.

+ Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams.

**Physical Requirements:**

+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

+ Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
