Job description

****This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000.****

A caregiver in this position works four varying 10-hour shifts with no weekday or weekend call.

As an Interventional Vascular Technologist, you will provide technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Some of your responsibilities will include acquiring images, processing images and providing emergency on call assistance. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

1. Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional and surgical procedures per protocol.
2. Establish effective working relationships and utilize a team approach to process improvement.
3. Perform duties in instances when normal, routine practice cannot be applied, often in high stress situations.
4. Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
5. Check and prepare patients prior to Vascular-Interventional study and ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
6. Set-up or operate injector to administer contrast agents for procedures.
7. Manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is utilized.
8. Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures.
9. Screen patients for ability to undergo procedure by understanding baseline lab requirements.
10. Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
11. Position patient to obtain radiographic exposure, adjust exposure factors and process images.
12. Adapt imaging and therapeutic procedures with professional judgment to improve diagnostic quality and therapeutic outcome.
13. Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS and complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
14. Immediately report malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
15. Process billing via RIS.
16. Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
17. Monitor equipment, systems, cleans equipment and effects timely repair.
18. Teach and instruct students and new hires.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

1. Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
2. Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing.
3. Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
5. Knowledge of Radiologic Physics and Computerized Vascular Equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy.
6. Knowledge of Vascular Anatomy and Pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

1. One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist.
2. Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT).

Physical Requirements:

1. Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
2. Lifting or assisting lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
