Overview

Functions under the direction of the clinical coordinator and/or department manager. The interventional special procedures technologist assists in providing safe, age-appropriate care by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. The technologist has the knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies safely and properly. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in utilizing equipment for diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The technologist can independently perform job functions, set up equipment for imaging services, and position patients for procedures. Able to perform procedures in both the IR and vascular hybrid interventional settings.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

• Graduate of AMA-approved School of Radiology Technology
• Graduate of a certificate or degree program in a health science
• Graduate of a post-secondary educational program in a health science

Required Minimum Experience

• 1 year of experience (preferred)

Required Minimum Skills

• Competency in diagnostic radiology procedures, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection
• Understanding of anatomy and pathology and their impact on procedure quality
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with a positive attitude
• Ability to function independently during procedures after appropriate orientation/competency, including being on call rotation

• CV (Cath Lab/Interventional RCIS) Certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• BLS - Provisional
• BLS - Instructor
