Job summary

Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, NJ is seeking a rotating shift, PRN Radiology Special Procedures Technician to support interventional radiology procedures and assist physicians.

You will perform diagnostic radiographic procedures, maintain a sterile environment, adhere to ALARA, and coordinate IR department activities, requiring NJ Diagnostic Radiology license and ARRT certification, with BLS within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Radiology Technician.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program.
• NJ Diagnostic Radiology License.
• ARRT Certification.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Preferred: 2+ years’ experience in Interventional or Cath lab.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Physician during interventional radiological procedures.
• Provide assistance to Physicians, other Radiology Technicians, and Registered Nurses during complex procedures.
• Coordinate daily activities within the Interventional Radiology Department.
• Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures per approved technique and ALARA limits.
• Position patients and set up equipment for optimal views as requested by the physician.
• Work independently and in a team-focused environment within the department and hospital-wide.
• Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
• Under Radiologist or Vascular Surgeon direction, perform all interventional procedures across patient populations.
• Maintain sterile environment with aseptic technique and proper equipment handling.
• Follow radiation safety and protection principles.
• Operate radiographic equipment and hospital computer systems (RIS, PACS).
• Optimize department efficiency through proper time management and patient flow.
