Job summary

UVA Health invites applications for an Interventional Radiology Technologist. You will support diagnostic and therapeutic IR procedures, prepare patients, maintain sterile technique, and operate imaging systems under physician supervision.

This is a fast-paced, academic medical center role with emphasis on precision and teamwork. The position emphasizes clinical excellence, radiation safety, and collaboration with interventional radiologists, nurses, anesthesia teams, and residents.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiography program with ARRT eligibility.
• Associate’s Degree in Radiography is preferred.
• ARRT (VI) certification required within one year of hire followed by ARRT licensure in Radiologic Technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and maintain sterile technique for interventional procedures.
• Operate fluoroscopic and related imaging systems to obtain high-quality images.
• Assist physicians during complex IR cases with strong collaboration and communication.
• Maintain radiation safety and infection control standards at all times.
• Support patient comfort, explain procedures, and reduce anxiety during interventions.
• Coordinate with nurses, anesthesia teams, and residents to promote efficient workflows.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to academic teaching when appropriate.
